I want to go home tonight at the end of my shift.

Police dispatch CIS can already provide my Hazmat, DNR, snowmobile, and carry permit, based just on the license plate.
I don't want another sticker, except to show my support (put on the front of the car).

This is why I drive a vanilla car, do the speed limit, and don't advertise. Haven't had a non-voluntary LEO interaction in years.

Actually, although a bit off topic, this is a real event that happened in Washington Kounty under the imperial reign of Sheriff Jim "Sub Recoso" Frank after the MPPA passed. He was speaking to a public gathering, and a question came up about the new carry law and why it was taking so much time for the permits to come out, and Sub Recoso Jimmy pulled this one out of his center hip pocket: Due to this new law, his police force had to undergo additional training on approaching lawful permit holders, so that was the reason for the holdup. ?!?

Okay, now let's review: The deputies already have to be trained to do traffic stops with complete strangers who may be armed felons with illegal guns on them, so HOW MUCH MORE TRAINING is it going to require to approach a legally armed citizen with the engine off, the keys on the dashboard, and both hands out the window holding their driver's license and carry permit???

[Crickets]

You have to remember that Maryland is the *********** state that requires a fired casing to be sold with a new gun for totally bogus foresnic evidence purposes, so it's little better than Kalifornia or mASSatucets...

Mod edit: Please do not bypass the profanity filter.

I don't understand people who feel the need to put bumper stickers on their cars. Who really cares what you believe and what you support. I can't imagine that anyone has an epiphany after following a car with a bumper sticker -

Wow..... you know......... I do think we should Free Tibet/meat=murder/=/WELLSTONE - never really thought about it until I saw that bumper sticker over there........such a convincing and powerful message

All it says to me is Hey LOOK at me. You are basically annonymous when you are driving anyway, so what is the point of putting a bumper sticker out there.

The idea that the government would require or suggest that Permit Holders put a sticker on their car is ridiculous and would never stand up if challenged.

The sticker is no more an indicator than any sort of GLBT related sticker is that the driver has AIDS. Silly and ridiculous.

I've seen this car with an "I [heart] Ethiopia" bumper sticker around town and have the same internal response every time I see it (twice), "Really? ...Why?"

For the record, and Cuoco's boobies, it WAS sarcasm.

NOT TRUE in MN.

The "FIREARMS Y/N" on the driving record of MN drivers has to do with DNR Hunter's Safety Certificates.

And there is NO permit to carry information contained in the DVS data base. Neither in driver's licenses, nor vehicle registration info.

It's contained within a separate data base altogether, in conformity with state law.

Besides management of data being in a "separate database" really doesn't mean anything. The police can query hundreds or thousands of databases just by typing your name in a search field.

But NOT the database that gives the DL or vehicle info.
