My favorite grip right now is an A2 grip I sanded down and stipled.

I also like the Magpul MOE grip.

And I like how a Cav Arms poly lower feels with a Houge Handall.

But I don't like the ergo grip. Finger grooves are a deal breaker.

As far as ring go, a good set of heavy duty rings correct for the optic and your preferred cheek weld is just fine, if you don't see the need to be able to take the optic off and put it back on without having to rezero it.

haha yea the stripped lower is off DPMS's website.. of course its gonna be full price..

On their site they list the DPMS A3 lite 16 for $760, I can get the same gun from my FFL dealer for $660.
but anyway... I thought I would love the ERGO grip instead of the stock one.

hmm... this **** is getting hard to decide on

when in doubt, go with the stock config. It's cheaper that way.

Get one of those 50 dollar lowers. You aren't gonna get the DPMS cheaper.

... not including the trigger!

If you buy a fully assembled upper there really aren't any special tools required to put an AR together, assembling a stripped lower with a parts kit requires only a set of punches, hammer, utility knife, some tape and access to the internet... It's the uppers that start racking up special tools when you factor in the cost of a vice, action block set, armorer's wrench, torque wrench, etc... I think this is why they get away with price gouging like crazy on free float tube equipped AR uppers, if you look at the cost to DIY there's a significant investment involved for a one-time job.

A stock trigger kit given a good once over by some one who's done it before (like the guy from Bills Gunshop) is actually a quite good trigger.

holy crap, for $100 I'll get you all the stuff and put it together for you.

$189 for a lower is highway robbery. Spikes are available from Aim surplus for $110 less at around $70. you can get a Stag lower for around $105.

Same thing with the LPK. You can find them for half that price. Especially if you are going to look at putting in a match trigger later.

I'd take a different direction on the lower half:

Spikes Lower:

http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx? ... groupid=53

($80 plus FFL transfer) - you might be able to buy these locally, perhaps check Element Arms in Becker?

Spikes Tactical Battle Trigger:

http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx? ... groupid=53

($60, free shipping)

Palmetto, Magpul MOE build kit (includes milspec buffer tube, buffer, MOE stock, MOE grip, MOE trigger guard, lower parts kit):

http://www.palmettostatearmory.com/598.php

($140 + shipping)

For everything above you're in $300 for a complete lower with upgraded Magpul furniture, the Spikes battle trigger, a Spikes stripped lower to match your upper per the above list. If my math is right per the list above you're looking at $250 + the price of the stripped DPMS lower per your list without the benefit of the Magpul MOE furniture. You also end up with an extra trigger, hammer and springs with the list I linked above.

I like the way you think.... i like all that better.. Yes i would rather have a spikes lower to match the upper... but most of the time people are out of stock.. and I like that grip.. and the match trigger (although that too is sold out)

I went this route and am happy. Not exceptionally light, but crisp with VERY little creep and overtravel. http://www.joeboboutfitters.com/Spike_s ... lpk301.htm

The Rock River 2-stage triggers are by far one of our best selling triggers and lower parts kit. We sell by far more of them than ALL the other basic LPK's combined.

Some people like a lighter trigger pull. You can drop the JP reduced power springs in them AND the battle triggers to give a lighter trigger pull. The RRA 2-Stage will be ~4.5lb with both stages combined with stock springs. With the reduced power springs they'll be ~3lb-ish. The stock Spike's Battle Triggers (& Enhanced LPK's) will be ~6lb pull with stock springs. The nickle boron is very smooth. We've been throwing together a custom AR pistol lower this weekend for a personal project with a 300BLK pistol barrel we chambered. It has the Spike's Battle Trigger in it

That 12" BAR upper is a good deal! These fly off the shelf when we get them in stock and it doesn't seem many retailers carry them for whatever reason. They're probably my favorite Spike's upper.

The stock/buffer you could probably do much better for your money. We sell a generic branded one (UTG) for $55 out the door. 6pos milspec tube and works great.

https://www.joeboboutfitters.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=UTG-RB-T6BM

Any of the cheapie plastic stocks are going to be the same quality, really. I'd grab one with a milspec tube if you can so you have more options later on if you want to upgrade to a nicer Magpul, VLTOR, etc stock.

Also, the Spike's T2 buffers are very popular with their tungsten powder. We sell by far more of them than the standard buffers.

We've been getting a boatload of some backordered Spike's accessories purchase orders in as of recently. We've got a lot of the battle triggers, enhanced LPK's, and T2 buffers hitting us tomorrow and Tuesday.

Edit: stesch_s10-Nice looking black GSD in your avatar. I have an all white Shepherd. Great dogs!
