I went through the same decision.
AR vs Remington 700, .223 vs .308, I wound up with a Saiga .308 .

I don't need 30 rounds, I only need one. But that 1 can come from a 30-round mag just as easily as a 5-round. Why should I have to buy a special mag for hunting?
