Am I the only one...

Postby Thunder71 on Tue Jul 12, 2011 9:07 am

Who has never fired a Glock?

I was all set to get one for my first gun, a Glock 19 to be specific, then I handled a Springfield Armory XD and XDM and fell in love. Ended up buying an XDM for a great price (new) and haven't looked back.

That said, I've always wondered what all the hype is about since I've only held one, not fired one. It felt like a lightweight brick in my hand and didn't aim where I pointed it, like my XDM does... but I do wonder how well I'd actually shoot one.

Yes, you are the only one. Even my two-year-old has fired a Glock.

I've shot a only few. Recently, I used my neighbor's Glock 27 (.40) at the local range, and found that it was very accurate, even with my pinky skidding below the magazine. Really nice gun.

Like you, the Mrs. and I have been drawn towards Springfields. Prices are quite compelling for what you get.

I owned an XDm for a couple of days, went back to Glocks. People always tell me to buy what "feels best" in your hands at the store. That method seems stupid to me, unless you're going to walk around holding your gun in your hand. Buy what you SHOOT best, which means rent it or borrow from a friend to see how it shoots.

I've only fired one, a G22 (.40)
When I was initially searching for a carry pistol, I held several and didn't really like how they felt in my hands or how they pointed. After actually shooting one I realize I might have been wrong.

Well, that was for Scott but if you want to drive up to Cambridge tonight I will let you try it out. I have a 32 round mag for it as well

I have a G17 and a G19. Your welcome to try both those if you like. I live south and work down the road from BPR.

The G26 is considered a "Baby Glock" Felt recoil will be more with the sub compact. I Own XD's and have owned an XDm9. Awesome Pistols! they shoot great. I shoot a Glock for competition because the mag release works well. My XDm had a serious issue with releasing the mag, even the mfg was aware. They wanted me to send it in.

Hold on now. We can't use that assault clip to, "try it out." They are only good for one thing...

A magazine that allows a gun to fire 32 shots in 16 seconds is only good for one thing - killing a lot of people, fast. And that's something we can live without. Assault clips: they make everyone a target. Tell President Obama to ban assault clips.
