If you knew that you were going to get wet, what would be the best gun to carry and how?

Understanding that it's never a good idea to get a gun wet intentionally, but I'm thinking of situations where you are more than likely going to get wet (Valley Fair Log Ride for instance).

Is there any way to reliably protect a gun from getting wet while on your person when you are going to get wet?

A pocket pistol in a zip lock bag seems to be the only thing that makes sense.

Any other ideas?

Remember almost all springs are carbon steel. They must be dried and re oiled.

If I get a gun really wet, I have removed the grips and dropped all the parts into a pan of mineral spirits. (I have it and it's cheap) I have even dropped the whole gun into the pan, all the water will be displaced and I can deal with it at my convenience. I have an old cake pan that I use for this and soaking other stuff. I'm not sure I would leave a gun with a lot of plastic or polymer soaking for a long time but I have left a commander in over night a few times.

if the name doesn't say enough... its a polymer frame, that works like a charm (maybe better with the maritime spring cups ) and on the slim chance it gets wet and stays wet, who cares its just a Zipglock

besides where are you going to go dry it out without showing it to the public? Men's handicap accessible stall in the *******? Meanwhile those you would be protecting are outside wondering what you had for supper last night.

Take a gun that doesn't mean much to ya. A gun in a ziplock bag doesn't seem like it would Tueller Drill all that well anyway...

I don't know, ask a Navy Seal what they do. Or just bring along a kesterman adjuster and you won't have to worry about it.

What are you worrying about? Any quality handgun will work even if it gets wet!

I went kayaking with my priest and a couple other parish members a week ago. One of the guys put his cellphone in a ziplock bag.
It held the water in enough to thouroughly ruin a good cellphone.

Recently took an LCP down the river in a raft... It got wet and then got a bit of CLP when it got back home.

It's a CARRY GUN. if you're worried about beating it up you're probably carrying the wrong gun.

All my GLOCK pistols have been completely submerged in water--I clean them in the sink using with Simple Green and hot water. I've never had a problem. I don't always get them 100% dry, either.

I bring my GLOCK pistols camping and boating. They've been exposed to sweat and water.

I think any modern pistol is going to fare just fine after getting wet, even if you leave it to air-dry.

If you want something to protect a pistol while engaging in some kind of watersport or wet activity, look at a small Pelican case or Otterbox. There are also several manufacturers of dry bags intended for cameras and other electronics.

I took my Kimber Warrior on a week long BWCA trip, and it was no worse for wear (despite ending up getting soaked a couple times, and never really getting properly dry until we got home). My PF9 has been on shorter canoe trips to other places, and hasn't had any issues either.

And with the zero-gravity spring cups, you can shoot in space. I know because my cousin was a door gunner on one of the first space shuttles.

How about a P3AT? I was in West Saint Paul today around 12:30. I stopped to get gas on Robert Street near 494. At first everything went fine. Then the wind blew from the east towards my back with hail the size of peas. In less than 5 seconds I was soaked from foremast to keel on the backside. My shoulder carry was dry. My pocket carry P3AT was drenched.
