They **** up. They were just transfering their anger/fear to the poor guy with the gun. Actually this cop reminds me of "Cooper" from Southland. Life imitating art? Or the ot her way around?
Now, let's add a little more context to the scene. Three people hanging. One is a known prostitute. The other was her pimp and gave a false name. Your permit holder is a john. He can get off my side.
No doubt it was a poor set of choices that led the guy to be around an alleged pimp and hooker. Whether he knew it or not (the skeptics in all of us would say "yeah, he probably knew"). Even so, in what way does that excuse the officer for reacting the way he did?
I never saw the guy make a move for his gun, nor heard him make a verbal threat to the officer. I do see a small piece of paper in his hand, and I do see a cop who is at best on a power trip and over-doing it at that. Considering guys like him are supposed to protect and serve guys like me, I'd sooner have the cop "off my side" than I would the PTC holder. If I had my way, they'd both get off my side, but the idiot Cop would have to be first in line. He reacts like he had a gun pulled on him. If that had happened, I'd understand. Sadly it wasn't even close to happening.
