My chocolate lab's name is Fiasco and he's 95 lbs of love. Great duck dog and halfway decent for pheasants.

You guys are killing me with the dog pictures. I have my Chessapeake Bay Retriever at a trainer for the next few weeks and its killing me not to have him around. He is being force fetched and the only consolation I have is that he'll return with better skills than I could put into him. I haven't hunted him yet, just got him in April. I can't figure out how to upload the photo's - would have loved to use one as my avatar. 85 lbs of puppy charm and distruction.

I agree with many who say that any dog - pure bred or not, can be a good hunting dog. Your potential goes up if they come from good lineage, but I've also seen my share of high priced dogs that don't hold a candle to some Mutts I've seen. Neighbor has a lab mix that he got from the Animal Shelter that works better than my Chessie before the trainer visit.

I hope to have some photo's to share after this fall.

What a beautiful lab! Those were the dogs I grew up with. Don't have a dog now. Sniff...

My first hunting dog. 2yo German Shorthair. This is last December with his first rooster. Actually first rooster I actually connected with. I trained him myself and had the the time of my life doing it.

Trying to give him more exercise. He's finally learning to put the bird in my hand instead of drop at my feet.

I've been trying to get my dogs in shape...although a few hard days in the field is the only real way to get them in shape...

I usually hunt with a yellow lab and a few german wirehairs. The wirehairs are all business, but the lab makes it fun. Running around sniffing, tongue hanging out.
