Their protests at the capitol show that....a couple of losers and 1 sign.

Somebody has kept the urban Walmarts from selling ammo.

I followed the defense of Dwelling and person act earlier this year and you can still see the hearings online....the anti's look silly and that includes the law enforcement airheads who testified.

Fleet Farm has been selling guns for as long as I can remember. Why would the antis target them now?

Handguns are a new item for them, and it appears they're going into it fairly bigtime.
I stopped @ the Blaine FF and spent a few minutes with the gun guy. if I recall, they will stock approx 40 handgun models. He said the reasoning was that when rifle/ shotgun customers asked about handguns, they would send them "down the road" to GM, etc, never to return... they had several pistols and revolvers on display, including a Taurus 1911 for $600.

We could also note that Fleet Farm's decision to start carrying Handguns indicates that 'Carrying' a firearm for self defense is.......Mainstream.

It builds on 20 years of 'shall issue' laws, our 7 years of peace and tranquility under the Minnesota Citizens Personal Protection Act and the landmark Supreme Court Decisions Heller / McDonald.

I remember in the 60's in highschool girls who needed abortions...they had to go to New York City ...in 1973 the Supreme Court legalized abortion nationwide.

40 years later that court ruling has permeated every small town in America.

I think the effects of Heller / McDonald are just being felt and will hopefully snowball over the next 10 years.

The Right to Keep and Bear arms is an INDIVIDUAL RIGHT....Heller / McDonald defines that for the first time in American History.

Question: If the 5-4 decision had been 4-5 would Fleet Farm be selling handguns....they obviously see it as a growth industry and they'll be selling them alongside the Peanut Butter, Underwear, Dog Food and Hydraulic Cylinders.

Big Smile.

Several years ago I worked with a woman who was from Russia. She was a professional engineer, and at one time worked at the Chernobyl power plant. I once asked her what impressed her most about the US. Among the many things she mentioned was the amount food at a CUB store, and the fact no one was standing in line for it, and that one could walk into a store-FF- and buy tractor parts...

I was in the Fleet Farm yesterday just south of Forest Lake off 35W and Lexington. They had their pistols out.
Not too many yet, but very impressive. Ruger semi autos, and some very nice revolvers. With their prices, they will give the local Gander a run for their money.

Up north we have L&M Fleet supply (same buying group as Fleet Farm). They bought the old Walmart building, and in the new sporting good section they do sell guns. Handguns, Shotguns, Rifles, ARs, Ammo, Supplies. It's a wonderful thing. It's where I bought my first handgun from.

I'm from Ely, and us guys always thought that L&M was a part of Fleet Farm. Always went there when I needed work cloths and boots for the Mines.
I still have the best ice chisel ever made that I purchase there.

I have read this before so I very excitedly went to the L&M Fleet Supply in Virginia. I wandered the whole store four times but found no guns. Is there some kind of secret hiding place for them?

Lucky Seven is the place for guns in Virginia, unless another gun shop has sprouted up somewhere.

Just got back from doing an animal crackers run to the Lakeville Fleet Farm, and while I was there, I stopped by the hunting department to take a look at their handguns. The selection was minimally decent (several Glocks with a smattering of XDs, M&Ps and Rugers, among others), but I shall confess I was not all that impressed with the prices. The Gen4 Glocks were priced at $575 with the M&Ps at around $520 and the Ruger GP100s at a little under $600, if I recall. The Springfield XDs were on sale at $465 while the XDms were priced a little above $600.

Definitely not as ludicrous as Gander's prices, but they weren't stellar deals either. I suppose we should be thankful for the emergence of another retail source of handguns in the Twin Cities.

Same with me, except I went there for trail mix. GLOCK mags are $20 each.

Hi Guys,

We are still rolling out handguns, not every store has every model yet. I know plans are 50 plus models of handguns at each store, possibly more to follow depending upon sales, new items etc etc. I know they are trying to be competitive on pricing, I'll pass on your feedback. I know they plans include Glock, SW, Springfield, Ruger, Taurus, and maybe more to come.

Thanks guys for your support,
Dave
