Shooters roundup... anyone goin?

Postby justinvan on Sun Aug 21, 2011 6:26 pm

Title pretty much says it all. Has anybody been there before? Is it worth the 40 minute drive and assuming there is admission?

I usually go every year. Worked CCRN & NRA booths many years. Now I go to just meet up with friends.

I just got Ahlman's flyer and the cost is $10. (Last year I think it was $5.) $25 if you want to participate in the "tests" for the prizes.

You can SHOOT most every thing from blackpowder muzzle loaders, handguns, rimfires, centerfires, 50 BMG, sub-machineguns to cannons if you want. It will take most of a day to see and do everything. Most firearm manufacturers will be there. Lots of walking.

Every shooter should go at least once.

9:00 AM to 5:00 PM both days.

FR&PC (less than 10 miles from Ahlman's) has a 3-gun shoot on Saturday so I will probably go on Sunday.

Hunters Den in New Ulm has their Customer Appreciation days that same weekend and I have to work there, so can't make Ahlman's.

Not exactly on their payroll. I do NRA, permit to carry and special training classes for years there and ran their indoor IDPA matches last year. But when they have special events they ask me to either have a table there and answer questions or work their range.

Can't make it this year. Next year, I'll be there the Gods willing.

Usual excuses, Wife is 7.5 months pregnant, already had hit the Outbreak: Omega shoot, changing jobs, etc...

Yup, I'll be there. It's a lot of fun.

Looking forward to a few gun demos and the trick shooters this year.

Is this a gun event where carry isn't allowed?

While you are there, stop by the booth for QSI Training. We'll have information about upcoming classes and you can meet some of our instructors. We'll be offering discounted prices for upcoming classes, plus you can enter to win a free training class.

Who went and what did you think? Anybody do the zombie shoot?

I was there on Saturday, and had a blast. Didn't get to see the Gould Brothers, so I guess I'll just have to watch them on Youtube.

Got to shoot a few guns, including Dan Coonan's interesting version of a 1911.

When we are doing classes at Ahlman's some of my students and staff open carry in the shop with no issues. For this event, I carried all weekend, both open and concealed. Saw several people open carrying.

Had a great time. Handed out my entire stock of flyers and business cards. Also did some recreational shooting, shot the SHTF 3-gun challenge, fired a Gatling Gun and an M1 Thompson. Had a great time, already planning for next year.
