Canccelled- FREE "Help me shoot my AR better" class..

Postby phorvick on Wed Aug 24, 2011 2:41 pm

A few months ago, our own FarmerJ offered a free AR class....and the folks had a great time and learned a lot. Now, he has graciously offered another free class, for lack of a better name. AR Shooting Skills 101, (he can suggest a better title). Again, Free...no charge...nada...zilch..$00.00.

The catch? It will be on Labor Day weekend (Sept 3) and in Erhard, MN. For those that are mapquest deficient, it is on US#59, between Fergus Falls and Pelican Rapids, in the (soon to be) cold NW Tundra (about 50 miles east and south of Fargo).

10:00am start. So, those of you with northwoods cabins, come on over for some fun. You never know, there might be a full auto gun to shoot too. :)

Limited to the first 5 that respond. I, since I posted, am #1 :)

I went to the charter class. I had a good time and learned lots. AR-15 101 might be a better description than help me shoot better cause even experts could want a class to learn to shoot better but this was focused on beginners. If the class is the same, about half was about the AR parts and cleaning and about half on shooting tips but we did no shooting. We learned how to break down and clean the AR including lots of suggestions on tools, chemicals, and cleaning tips, how to operate it, common issues, ammo, sighting, positions & steady hold factors, accurate shooting technique, some drills to improve, and lots of other stuff. My wife learned lots as well and it was a friendly, good environment to ask questions.

You would need to check with FarmerJ, but I think that this class is going to focus primarily (all??) on shooting...after all, we are at a range!

You are correct. It will cover actual zero techniques, shooting positions and some other things to work on while firing.

We can do the assembly and disassembly, but those are better for non-shooting environments.

There is about a 1/2 day of stuff you can cover without stepping foot on the range. Little things that make range day go a bit better.

102....

AR201 will get more into range estimation, target acquisition and identification.

Google maps says this is a 3 hour drive... Maybe a few minutes less in the mustang. How long on the range would you estimate? Would love to drive up and get some trigger time in. Just bought my first AR a month or so ago. I'll call spot number 2. If any Metro area people would be interested I would be glad to give someone else a lift.

Well, Phorvick and I are planning on being there about 10ish. If someone should show up with a grill.....

And a diet pepsi or three.

Sounds like the reason I've been waiting for to pick up a tailgating grill if I ever heard one to me

twas rather common for me and phorvich to have a bbq during our classes on the range. Makes for a rather relaxed day.

I plan on bringing my EZ-up shelter for some shade.

I never got into it because that's more a 302 level.

I have only worked those drills once, and that was with my SRT team in the MP's.
