That's the first time I've ever bought ammo from Walmart, or anything gun related from them. I used to reload with my grandpa but haven't done that in a couple years. And after that experience.. i really hate going in there. I've always hated going in there anyway.

Wal Mart is the only store within 5 miles of me and the only one other than Sportsmans Guide between me and my primary shooting facility that sells ammo. While Cabelas may only be $1 more per box in order for me to get to Cabelas I have to spend about $13 in fuel to get there. The other places that sell ammo in my area code generally charge about 30% more for ammo.

When I went to the check out counter with all my shotgun shells, the lady asked me.

Lady - "so what are these for?"
Me - "To shoot clay targets with"
Lady - "Oh, Ok What's your birthday?"
Me - I told her
Lady - "So if these are for targets, why do they ask your birthday?"
Me - "Because they are shotgun shells... ammunition."
Lady - "So they could hurt someone if they got shot with them?
Me - "Ummmm yes, the target shells are just are lethal as the... regular? ones?
Lady - "Oh, I did not know that."

SOOOOO according to the lady who allowed me to buy this mass amount of shells thought that since they are for "clay targets", meant that they weren't lethal.

Just ONE of the reasons I will not voluntarily set foot in a Walmart. Cripes, I'll gladly pay the extra $1 or $1.50 for ammo at Cabela's or buy on line first before I give Wallyworld any of my cash! Support the stores that support US! Walmart is there to crush the competition any way they can.

Don't get me wrong I'm not a fan of W/M by any means. I would guess I have been there three or four times in the few years. I don't understand how anything in the thread quoted has anything to do with W/M wanting to crush the US. If a person doesn't like W/M don't go there. Why does every thread about W/M turn into a bashing W/M thread? I bought ammo from them because I just got a G22 I reload but I haven't worked up a load yet for 40S&W and I was itching to shoot my new gun. Cabela's for me is a tank of gas round trip, not going to happen. I didn't want to wait for ammo to be shipped from an online source. I wanted to shoot my new gun now, not in a week.

Call A1Ammo. They are local. Every time I ordered it was delivered next day. The prices are good and I have never had any problems
with quality.

The store manager seems to have that {9mm ammo must only be for thugs kind of attitude!}
I gotta go to the Walmart in Eddystone PA to even see an ammo case ! In Philadelphia, the dept. stores stopped selling ammo about 12 years ago !
The Eddystone store always has plenty of Winchester WB 100 ct in stock, all 115 gr. Sometimes they have Federal Champion too in 124 gr but I'd rather have whitebox.
Once they had some WWB Bonded in 40 S&W ! It's basically the PDX-1 bullet loaded in brass instead of nickel. I bought six boxes of that stuff, they were 180 gr .
I couldn't belive they had those ??

Walmart buys an estimated 50% of the production at Federal and Winchester on certain calibers...they're whole-heartedly supporting US ammunition manufacturers. Cabelas has moved to private labeling Russian and Bulgarian crap instead of promoting US brands.
Nothing to see here. Continue swimming.
