Come on now. I missed the 1st target 1st shoot. I walked up to it with the mindset. It's two easy targets not to fare away. I'm going blaze through it as fast as I can. I bet I'm the only guy that shot 5 shots last night. I pulled a good makeup shot though. Man it's going to be a long winter.

Yeah, but you were fast! ;)

I need a few more magazines and mag holders now :D

I saw several folks with mag holder/belts with multiple mag holders on them (more than 4-5). I assume designed for competition. Is there a source for them locally? I hadn't noticed them at Bill's and the like, but haven't looked very hard admittedly

I buy a lot of my stuff from MidwayUSA.com. Great service. But my CR Speed gear came from Unholstered.com. Also, very good service. Between the two, I buy 99% of my gear from them.

I have 6 mags for my XDM. Not sure how many I will need for this league considering what we discussed last night but per the comments of the faciliatators...
"If you only have a couple mags, bring a couple friends who can load really fast..."

Also keep in mind which division you will be shooting. My XDM mags max out at 19 rounds but I shoot Production, so each is only loaded with 10. I keep 5 on the belt and one in my pocket for topping off.

So if I shoot a 1911 in Single Stack, I need like 10 mags? :D

http://www.unholstered.com/ Is a local vendor who is active here on the board and makes it to many events, the customer service is great and the prices are too!

No, but 6-7 isn't an unreasonable number if you plan on shooting USPSA for real, especially in the summer at oakdale.

For the winter season you can get buy with 4 if you don't mind maybe having to run the gun dry.

I have six for my TRP and I used all of them this summer @ OGC USPSA.

Heh.. I came out well over 3... 2.49 is blazing! ;)

I had fun at the orientation and am looking forward to next thursday. I'm a newb and a bit concerned I don't have the right holster and enough mags for the job, but I'd like to see if I like it before spending more money on equipment. Mostly I don't want to get DQ'd! Never shot in front of other people before last week.

Maybe someone will "volunteer" to loa some of the mags for you.

If you have never shot USPSA before you can go to their web site at http://uspsa.org/ and do some reading. Basically you need a gun with a safe holster that covers the trigger guard. a solid belt with magazine carriers for about 3 or 4 magazines, hearing protection and shooting glasses. This all depends on what division your shooting in. Here is a link to the USPSA getting started section. http://www.uspsa.org/uspsa-about-getting-started.php

Just show up and people will help you out and answer any questions you have.

Normally, that's good advice. In the Winter League matches, we permit the new shooters to go "light" on equipment: if they don't have a safe holster, they can start from low-ready with a 1 second penalty. Also, if they have only two mags (and that's the least we allow), someone can reload them during the stage. That's for one match only, which should be enough to learn if they want to do this kind of match.
