Fake Gun sounds in James Bond 'Quantum of Solace'

Daniel Craig is a worthy James Bond...second only to Sean Connery I'd say.

Just watched a big Bang-Bang shoot out in a hotel. Bullets all over the place.
But to me ....obviously fake...you can hear a 'clinking' (supposedly the slide) OVER the muzzle blast ???? (they do that with fake machine gun fire too)



These gun sounds of course are totally manufactured ...I'd guess layers of reconstructed sound from multiple sources that they've created and then they sat down and said 'How should the gun fire sound in our 20 million dollar movie.'

Personally, I like the fake gun sounds of the 40's movies as well as Die Hard 1 & 2.

I'm thinking of gunshot sounds like fake boobs...they could be any size you want...even ridiculously big.

Bottom line is ....I want more realistic gun shot sounds.

They're actually probably quite real recordings taken from the actual gun or similar. The sound guys take samples from guns from various locations on the gun. I've seen recordists mice up a machine gun with four mics, one on the ejection port, another near the muzzle, third pointed at target, and a fourth handheldfollowing the path of the bullet. The big movies are usually done this way. Those sounds in the old Die Hard films are terrible Hollywood stocks sounds.

And on top of that, the characters involved in these massive and protracted firefights aren't wearing hearing protection, and don't seem to suffer any kind of hearing loss.

Hollyweird indeed.

I like Craig as Bond as well, but his rabidly anti-gun hypocrisy leaves a bad taste in my holster.

Mel Gibsons gun sounds more like a hammer on a workbench than a gun in this scene.

Movie and TV gunfire is Hilarious! What really gets me p'd off is were not allowed to have silencers on our guns. for one reason, because the general public and our politicians think you can shoot a gun in the next room and not hear it. Just like TV.
