Why is everyone ganging up against this kid? Are you saying that people should not have guns? He is not professional enough to own a gun? He is not old enough to purchase a gun? Don't think people should be allowed to buy Hi Points? Any brand of gun used in a crime should not be sold? Which laws are being broken? What Armslist rules are being violated? What am I missing? I don't understand.
my gut check:
1. no permit. required by law? no. would i ever sell a gun to someone without? hell no. you do what you want.
2. wants me to come to them. kind of a red flag - most people have the ability/means to drive. those that don't either can't afford it or have had it taken away. i would wager the later category outweighs the first anymore. an assumtion, yes - but if i don't feel good about it, i ain't doin it.
3. he's 18. again, legal? i suppose. good idea? not really.
4. people askign to buy a used gun that retails for under $150 - you ain't buyin it for reliability. you ain't buyin it for a collection piece, you ain't buyin it because it's something that's ben proven by professional agencies as apropriate for defense work. two reason to buy one of these POS: throw away gangsta gun, or it's all you can afford and it's better than a pointy stick. with the price of other used taurus etc out there, a specific request for a hi-point seems odd. perhaps it sall the person can afford and it fits there hand and they've done their research? maybe, but again, seems iffy. my gut tells me run.
5. and then, by extrapolation, either this person knows 100% what they're doing getting the hi-point for self defense OR, or they just want a cheap blaster, don't care much about anything other than making a noise in their hand. if the first, awesome. god speed good pilgrim. if the second - i dont' want anything i've ever touched anywhere near them. if the later, in the BEST of circumstances they have good intentions and the worst case is they shoot themselves or someone they care about accidentally because they don't have a clue what the hell they're doing. in the worst case of the worst case, they don't give two ******* about permits to carry, holsters or innocent bystanders.
it's all a bit too much for my tastes.
IS IT LEGAL: by all appearances yes.
IS IT A GOOD IDEA: shippy says hell no.
my granddaddy always said: just becuase you CAN - doesn't mean you SHOULD. and he died with all his fingers
