Front Sight Forum

Postby jp8775 on Sat Oct 08, 2011 6:10 pm

I have been permanently banned from the Front Sight first family forum. Apparently they do not want any complaints of the facility on the forum site. I have not had my membership revoked or anything so I will still go there though.

Don't worry JP.... In response to a valued member such as yourself being banned, I'm going to start an alternative forum at frontsighter.com

I hope the masses from frontsight.com will follow suit and abandon that forum to join the new one in an effort to show unity and solidarity.

I wonder if Dr. Ignoramus Pizza did it himself, or if he was too busy combing his fantastic hair, and had a flunky do it.

Actually when I complained to the moderator he said he did not know about it and would look into it, and he will now not answer my emails. My guess is yes. I think IP has people look for any body saying anything against FS and he personally see's it.

I get a bunch of e-mails from them almost daily wanting me to take their training. If you don't mind sharing, what criticisms did you have of their training?

FrontSight Training is some of the best I have experienced, It's clear, precise, all of the instructors teach the same principles, there is none of the "well he teach this way and I teach another way". I have never met a single individual who has attended FrontSight’s training who has a bad thing to say about it, including the OP.
You will not be disappointed with a training visit to FrontSight.

Yes, I did drink the cool aid, but it tasted good and it’s not poisonous, unlike the diatribes of some detractors who have never visited FrontSight. Yes, Ignatius Piazza’s promotional methods are OTT, and even in one case legally actionable, (that case has now been settled), but with an average of 500 to 600 students being trained each weekend and 300 to 400 in the midweek classes, I think most people would agree that the training “Product” is a leader in the industry.

I took a 4 day course there several years ago and at the time thought it was well worth it. Now I say at that time because it was several years ago and many of their practices may have changed. I have heard a couple complaint when I was there, maybe more of excuses from those that did not graduate, which are many, at least when I was down there. Me, I have no complaints. ;)

I don't think I've heard anything bad about the training itself, or the facility, here or anywhere else. It's the Dear Leader who attracts the complaints. Definitely go if decent training is all you care about. It's by far the cheapest of the big schools, so it would be a good way to see if "big school" training is for you.

People post on here all the time about not supporting this business or that business because of questionable practices, regardless of the quality of the product of those businesses, so I don't think it's out of line to say that a person won't go there because of something like that. Those concerns are no less legitimate just because you can get good training for a bargain price there. Lots of people here shop at SuperAmerica, even though others here don't like their policies about defending oneself at work. No one says, "yeah, but their gas is as good as anyone else's, have you ever actually bought gas there?" No relevance whatsoever, if your concern is the behind-the-scenes stuff.

I am a lifetime Diamond member; I go there 3 to 4 times a year some times more and have literally several hundred hours of training there as well as my wife. Every time I go I learn tons of stuff. The instructors do not get paid much and do it for the love. I think this is a key reason they are so good. Whenever someone does it because they love it they put more into it. Only a hand full of instructors is full time. Most do it part time and work full time at something else. Some things have changed for the worse, but it still is world class training. You will never regret going there or spending the money. The saddle west motel is where you want to stay, free breakfast buffet to die for and dinners are the same and reasonable. You need to get a reservation a head, they are almost always full except during the off season because there is a casino in the motel. They have special rates for members also. We have a mobile trailer RV permanently parked at the best western RV lot that we can stay in. Training good Ignatius not so.

I've been going to Front Sight for about 5 years now. I usually attend twice a year....and even managed a third time this year.

I agree that the owner is OTT in regards to his e-mails, etc. That being said, you won't see him at FS so who cares? I sure don't. I can hit the delete key on my keyboard just as fast on his e-mails as I do for the ones from China wanting to sell me LED lights and winches for my Jeep.

As for the instructors, there are quite a few that work there full time. I know because I've asked. I've got a good friend who is a part time instructor....which means he is often times there 4 days a week.

The two courses I completed last month were both 4 day courses, the Advanced Tactical Shotgun course and the Precision Rifle 1 (aka, Sniper) course. If you are interested, click the links to read my after action reports on both courses....or other after action reports for other courses I've attended.

Other than a satisfied customer, I've got no other interest in Front Sight. I do believe it is a heck of a deal. FS has made quality training for the every day person....not just the folks who can afford $1300 per course like other companies offer.

Last month, during our shotgun course, a consultant was doing some HD video from his RC helicopter. The new video is available on youtube. Check it out....it gives a pretty good overview of several of the firearms disciplines taught at FS. The shotgun footage was taken during the course I was attending.
