St. Paul area shopping opportunities?

Postby Pete in Proctor on Mon Oct 24, 2011 7:51 pm

Newbie here...my wife and I will be coming down from the Duluth area on Thursday for a Wild game and we'll have a bit of time to shop. Shop for firearms that is! I would like a few recommendations on a shop or two that would keep us close to I-35E. We're vaguely familiar with the 35E corridor but we're hayseeds driving our turnip truck  so we would get lost pretty easy straying too far off the beaten path. I'm not sure of the rules regarding promoting businesses on here so mods please move or delete if you see fit.

Thanks for the help in advance....oh and I'll be sure to be driving in the far left lane five miles under the speed limit so give me your best one finger salute! 8-)

Think its the Hwy 96 exit near Forest Lake before the 35 split Gander Mountain no need to thank me :P

Bills gun shop and range in Circle Pines has a great selection of fire arms. It's just off the 35 split.

If you decide to get a little off your pre-determined route, you would be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't stop at GunStop in Mtka. Great selection, great prices and decent staff.
If you're reading this, there are better than even odds you are a d-bag.

Yep, if only to check it out.

Al's in Vadnas Heights? isn't too far from 35E. I haven't driven by there in a while so I'm assuming it's still open.

It is on County Road E about a block east of Hwy 61 on the left side, and its White Bear Lake. :)

Google Maps is your friend; you can put in a search for gun or sporting goods stores ad have them all on one sheet of paper.

Obviously, if you have a droid or iphone, you can use those too. For a lot of stops in an unfamiliar area, though, I prefer paper, so I can see how close Bills North, Als, Joes, Mountain of Geese, Frontiersman, Gunstop and Cabelas really are.

There's also a Fleet Farm (with the new handgun goodness) on 35w just south of the split.
