Best part...

Evanovich said her family has received threats since the shooting, including some from a Facebook page related to the shooting.

I'm pretty sure the threats on the page weren't directed at you.

These folks are actually addicted to the DRAMA in their life. ("my heart wasn't in it, the STREETS were CALLIN (me)". ) The original "memorial "FB page is this, they don't have time to grieve, they be busy with all the new material......Life in this family is a reality show, nobody wants to miss an episode.

Don't get caught up in it I think.

Just be happy it's not your family.

If it is... I'm *really* sorry for your misfortune.

No charges filed against man who killed S. Mpls. robber

Postby Jerome45 on Fri Oct 28, 2011 2:25 pm

"The gunman who shot and killed armed robber Darren Evanovich last week in a Cub Foods parking lot will not face criminal charges, after prosecutors determined he acted in self defense after Evanovich pointed a handgun at him and told him to mind his own business.

Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman determined that the witness, who was not identified, had tried to get a woman's purse back, but was justified in his actions on the evening of Oct. 20.

Civil trial isn't possible under MN law in this case, is it? No criminal charges...no civil charges...

I think you can file a civil lawsuit for just about any reason in Minnesota. You might be thinking of the inverse. When you get a criminal conviction, the civil trial is really just a question of how much is it going to cost.

I'd love to see the lawyer who would take this on as a civil suit. Not saying no lawyer wouldn't, I just haven't see pig **** in a while.

Here's the criminal complaint for the sister:

Or if Evanovich was convicted of a felony they wouldn't be able to file a civil suit. But since he's dead there is no protection from civil liability.
I love it when a plan comes together!

From the complaint:

On or about October 20, 2011 at 9:52 p.m., B.R., a 53 year old woman, was robbed outside of Cub Foods located at
2850 26th Avenue South. During the robbery, B.R.’s purse was taken and she was struck in the head with a
handgun. Investigation determined that the main perpetrator of the robbery was Darren Evanovich and that at least
two other people were with him and possibly involved in the robbery. The Defendant, who is Darren Evanovich’s
sister, was one of the people with Darren Evanovich on October 20, 2011 at the time of the robbery. After B.R. had
her purse taken, Darren Evanovich, the Defendant, and the other male with them ran in a northwest direction. A
known male followed them in his car, asking for B.R.’s purse back. The known male pulled up to Darren
Evanovich who was looking through the purse. The known male asked Darren Evanovich to give back the purse.
Darren Evanovich pointed a handgun at the known male and began to move towards the known adult male. Darren
Evanovich was telling the known male to mind his own business. The known adult male fearing he was going to be
shot, fired his own gun at Darren Evanovich.

Police located Darren Evanovich’s body in the area where he was shot. The Defendant was by his body when
police arrived. The Defendant was placed in a squad car and as she sat in the squad car she pulled from her head
black hair extensions and threw them out the window of the squad car.

And, from the October 12th incident, this:

The Defendant’s mother, who is white, appears to be using K.U.’s checks at the Target store. K.U. is a white female

I hope they go after that loser too.

Hmmm. This appears to me to be a criminal enterprise. Might there be some conspiracy and sum-such going on? I might be that Octavius or whatever might have been the (God help us) "mastermind" here.

This gives the FaceBook entries a whole new character.

Excellent outcome so far.

Wow, reading that, it looks to be more self defense than "vigilantism" that I had originally feared. Very nicely done, I salute you, whoever you are.

Actually posting via cell phone from the scuzzy parking / dumpster area where young Darren met his maker.....you can't make this up ....a pack.of feral youth just passed by .all about 10 years old ..one of them had a plastic gun. he said he just spray painted it ...I rolled down my window and said "give me that" he handed it over. it was plastic, spray painted black. I gave it back to him and they walked away.
Joe Soucheray could get a column out of what just happened.

When he grows up he's going to be a "Darren" too.

If this is the story I just heard about on the radio(sounds about right but who knows) it was just released no charges will be brought against the shooter. It was ruled a clear case of self-defense
