Not to change the subject

BUT

Do any of you maintain relationships with any of the local Police officers that may be responding to your house in the event of the oh Crap moment?

Some of the local PD guys out here know me pretty well and I would encourage you to engage your local PD guys in coversation if you happen to run into them on friendly terms. Nice to get to know the guys and let them get to know you as well.

Afterall - better to be a familiar face to them than a complete stranger in the middle of the night.

IMHO. Bottom line is - hopefully we will never have to meet these folks on rather interesting terms - best to try to get to know them.

Pinnacle-

Do you have any suggestions as to how one may accomplish this? Being in the 'burbs, I seldom see officers. I see squad cars driving all over the place. But I seldom see faces with which I can interact.

Many departments have reserve programs, if you have the time to spare. If not, stop by and ask the chief how a citizen can volunteer. Betcha she'll find a way! :)

Yeah the nect time that you see a Cop in the area and one drives past the house - and youa re in teh front - wave him/her down and introduce yourself and let them know that it is nice that they are keeping an eye on the house for ya...

Seems stupid - but you have to start somewhere.

With my luck, it would be Occifer Gort

That's why I was in our Citizen's Police Academy last month. I got to meet 16 of our officers, drive a squad car and get zapped by a taser...twice!

You should go back and tell them you want to get Pepper Sprayed  Then you can compare the taser to the chemical agent :)

The second time was a group tasing. 10 of us held hands and they taped the probes to the shoulders of the people on the end. They tried to tell us it the effect of the taser would be reduced, but I knew better, the taser is a current-regulated device, meaning it tries to maintain a certain output current by adjusting the output voltage, and it's the current that gets you, not the voltage. So, instead of the typical 1200 volts, the taser probably ramped up to 12,000 volts.

No thanks, I've never been sprayed, but I'd rather be tased than sprayed. The effect of the taser only lasts 5 seconds.

And on any other day, I will avoid both!

I've been tased with a handheld and been in a CS chamber twice, does that count?

Only half counts as the probes do a better job and the cs gas is ok but it is the Pepper what gets you :o

Especially afterwards and your washing your hair and it runs down and burns your junk. My kid heard some new words that night :o :o
