+1

I go there for the sales. If something isn't on sale, I can always buy it somewhere else cheaper. Doesn't matter what it is.

I have picked up powder at the one in Lakeville a couple times because it has been Sunday or after Gun Stops hours and Lakeville is close. It must depend on the maker of the powder but last time (which will be the last time unless it is an emergency) I bottle of clays (14oz mind you) came to over $26 out the door.

Since we are on the topic, what is with the layout of the Lakeville store? All these mini gondolas of product (on all 4 sides) so you spend your whole time there walking in circles around these gondolas. What happened to good old isles of product that was labeled as to what is in the isle?

The one in Rochester sounds like it's laid out the same way. They are taking the Walmart approach, forcing you to wander around the store in hopes you just start grabbing miscellaneous stuff that catches your eye instead of going in, grabbing what you came for, and checking out.

I'll go back to buying online then, I am not for getting tricked into buying crap and the frustration when I want to walk in and buy a new bark collar for my dog. But I have to spend 45 minutes looking at EVERY gondola in the store to find it.

Yep, it's the IKEA method of wallet draining, and it's very effective.

Especially against the folks that would pay $749 for a Milspec RIA 1911.

Well, I see Fleet Farm has the S&W 642 on sale for $359.99 - going to see if Gander Mountain will do a price match since they are only 1/2 mile from where I work. If so, I'll be getting a new gun from them today. :D

If not, I'll go to Fleet Farm which is about 20 minutes away and get a new gun anyway - then head to Gander Mountain for $75 worth of .38 Special ammo I guess.

Generally they will, as long as there is some way to prove FF is selling the gun at that price. Just have the clerk call over to FF.... Its best if you have the number handy for them, as I've found they can't be bothered to open the phone book.

They may be horribly overpriced, but they are a retail establishment. They will sacrifice the extra 40% markup to make the sale.

Done deal! :D

Didn't even bother calling, I showed them the ad I printed out from their website and he said 'Good enough for me.'

If it were me, I'd drive the 20 minutes to not deal with the jackasses behind the GM counter (not to say FF doesn't have similar jackasses), and to not give any $ to a store that seems to enjoy raping customers so. (in fact, i'd drive a lot farther than that to aviod a gander mtn)
I for one am thrilled Fleet Farm is selling firearms other than .22s, shotguns and cheap commie WWII surplus rifles.
I would bet the more guns they sell, the more they'll carry.
Wouldn't it be cool if some day the FF gun dept was as big as the GM ones?
I hate gander mtn due to their prices and attitude; it's a shame because they have a lot of cool stuff.
