Let's see your builds!

Postby shooter115 on Wed Nov 09, 2011 11:51 pm

Since this is a gun forum and all, and I havn't seen a thread like this yet on the board. Let's see your custom builds! Just a little info and a couple pics or so. Just curious what everyones doing out there. Please don't post questions or comments, let's just see what you have.
I'll start out with my last 10/22 build (mostly cause the pics are handy). I'm still shocked at how well this thing shoots. Groups are 10 shots at 50 yards

Factory 10/22 reciever
VQ trigger components
Trued and squared bolt
ZQ snake fluted compensated barrel
Boyds stock
Sightron 4-16 scope

Snake fluted Barrel? Cool. Who makes that?

My last build. Using M118LR ammo, it will keep them under a quarter at 200 yards as is. If you miss, it ain't the gun screwing up.

I know some would argue putting together an AR is not an actual build, but I assembled every single pin, spring, etc. so I'm sayin it is.
here's one I finished up this summer. Most fun firearm I've ever shot.
Image
AR15 chambered in 5.56
Spikes lower and BCG
Vltor MUR upper
16" Daniel Defense bbl
Magpul CTR stock, and AFG
Mako ergo pistol grip
Troy TRX battle rail
and the crown jewel: EOTech EXPS2-0

** not fully complete though; still need BUIS and a better clash suppressor/compensator.

SUPPORTING CAST

Custom Protektor "DR" rear bag, heavy sand, 4 stitch

MATCH LOAD

115gr DTAC bullet, Superior Shooting (David Tubbs) .010" into lands
Lapua 243 brass, no neck trimming
CCI BR2 primer
42.3gr of RL22
Neck sized with Redding Comp die, .001-.0015" runout on case neck, .001" or less runout on ogive near start of bearing surface.
2950 FPS, 10 shot ES's in the 4-7FPS range

Nice 10/22 build, I have a full blow VQ rig with the heavy stainless fluted bbl, lots of power custom titanium parts, VQ McMillan stock, killer 22, will shoot thru the same hole at 50 indoors, does on inch or so @ 100 even with a little wind, loves the wolf match almost as much as the crazy Eley stuff, still need to try Lapua sometime.

My fav 10/22 build was this one

Image

This rifle comes everywhere with me, its a VQ carbon tensioned bbl chambered in 17 Mach2, deadly and accurate, much better in the wind when hunting small game. Stock is a Envy green Raptor from Predator Gunstocks, used a Power Custom Tungsten heavy bolt handle and some hodgepodge of springs to tame the Mach 2, it's phenomenal, I highly recommend a Mach2 build to anyone

The first one was built with leftover parts and a parts kit.
The second is A DPMS upper, barrel and parts kit in 308 built from the ground up.
The third is an RRA upper and lower built from the ground up.
The forth is a Colt that was at one time a complete rifle. The only remaining original parts are the upper, lower and carrier.

Sorry I didn't answer soon (I was back in deer camp).

The scope is a 3x9 on the firearm you reference.

Here's another 10/22 build I did...I actually built this mostly for the Ruger Rimfire matches, but it's fun as hell for a plinker, points and feels awesome. I think the only Ruger parts left are the trigger housing and bolt body

80% billet reciever from Select Fire
Squared and trued factory bolt
VQ trigger guts
Green mountain 16" fluted muzzle weighted barrel
Boyds stock
TruGlo TruPoint (the good one .....not the $70 jobbie)
