Renting a handgun

Postby ninjaplease! on Mon Nov 14, 2011 9:33 pm

A buddy of mine is looking to rent a few different guns to figure out what his next purchase is going to be. We're from Rochester, so driving to Bills isn't our first option, but we are open to it.

Is there anywhere closer to home that rents guns? I've heard Ahlman's in Faribault, but I don't see anything about it on their website.

Thanks,

Bob

Really? 105 views and no responses?

Did I do something wrong?

I would guess no one that has looked has an answer for you, that's why they haven't posted in the thread. Just a guess.

Come visit Southern California. At least a dozen ranges with rentals within 30 minutes of all the big tourist spots. This is why I didn't respond. :)

I'm thinking you guys should make a day of it, go to bills, shoot a lot, and then hit up the lodge next door or the eagles nest across the street for some food and beers afterwards.

Bills is the only one that I know of that rents guns, There may be others that I am not aware of and I have never heard of Ahlmans renting guns maybe they do and I have never heard about it  call them and ask.

Here's a few in Olmsted county not sure if they rent though its at least something to start with. There is a rifle club in Roch (http://rochesterrifleclub.org/rrc/index.php) as well though I presume you're not looking to get a membership deal. Hope this helps.

Rochester rifle club appears to be in NY.

Minute Man is the only place in the area that might do rentals.

I think MM went out of business. Not sure, though. That's Dodge County, not Olmsted. They got shut down by the county, because "customers" were supposedly shooting out in the back yard/field when the place wasn't open (it was out in the country, city folks, so don't get all excited). It's a horse stable now.

I'd be tempted to call one of the LGS's to see if they have any recommendations. If anybody would know, I think Coyote Creek or Wild Goose Sports should know.

I thought Bill's in Robbinsdale was probably the nearest one for our (Rochester) area, and that's where I was planning to visit this winter. I wanted to take my wife up there, to give her experience with different handguns before she buys one.

If you find a place down here, please share it - I think others would be interested.

As far as I know, Ahlman's doesn't rent guns for their shooting range. During their annual Shooters Roundup, it's possible to shoot just about anything your heart desires for the cost of ammo, however.
