If you already have 2 3/4" plywood sheets glued and screwed together and it's still flexing, I can hook you up with a sheet of 3/8" 316 stainless. If you flex that, I bet most presses would break before flexing that.

Grizzly.com sells maple butcher block bench tops.

Don't expect cheaper than dirt, but expect quality at a reasonable price for what you are getting.

If you go big and thick like I did, also expect to have fun getting it in your house :D

Ok well on my home computer all the options become availible on the ikea website so that was the problem there. I went there today anyways $129 for a piece big enought. So after a call to the guy is "sconny" I am going to go pick up a 6' 8" piece of bowling alley for the same price. I should end up with a 17-18" x 6' 8" strip left over to make something else with.

2.5" thick top will be simply amazing. The only downside to bowling alley is it is only nailed together, ring shank nails but it is not glued. So some braces still have to be used to keep it from peeling open.

If you did not see it in the reloading bench thread here it is again.

This is from the beginning of the bowling alley where the ball is thrown. This section is actually glued and nailed together, rock hard maple measuring 6' 10" X 42" X 2.5" and it must weigh in at least 200lbs.

BMO (Building Material Outlet) is in Mendota Heights.
They may have something that would fit the bill. http://www.cannonrecovery.com/
