should be able to shoot them up at the Roseau MN range out to 1000 yards no issue. It's a public range and no range fees last I knew.

Gave up the .50 when I retired. Sure do miss Ma Duece.

nothing better then shooting the 50 with tracer rounds... its not so much the sound but the pressure/shock wave that happens if you know what i mean. good times....

Where do you shoot?

You MUST BE CAREFUL with shooting tracer rounds, as fires have been started and 50BMG rifles have been banned from ranges because of this capability.

But I do agree - tracers are fun - I used them at a Fun Shoot in Marksville, LA shooting out to 1 mile. Most of the range was under water, so no fire conditions. We also shot Tannerite, LPG tanks, cars, and alligators. We also shot incendary, AP's, ball, and whatever else you brought. I brought 11 rifles and 9000 rounds of ammo. Surprisingly got much better mileage on way home.

If you wanted pressure/shock wave, try shooting at Oakdale Gun Club 200 yard range in the almost enclosed bunker.

We recently had a fun shoot there for the Ladies, and others, for them to enjoy the firing of a 50BMG target rifle.

Its not a sniper rifle. I can hit 55 gallon barrels at 1000 with it (well, when I do my part- a HSLD operator I'm not...). The thing is fun to shoot, but I think a true match bolt gun is much more the idea for true 1000 yard competition.

...

WOW! An honest 50BMG owner finally!! I bet his fellow BMG'ers dont like him much, lol.

@Oldman: Do you know anything about the NM version of the AR-50. It's been on the Armalite website for about a year now and forever shows "out of stock".
I couldn't find any "reports" of the NM and wonder how it performs compared to the standard version and if it's worth the $900 difference.

Sorry I missed this posting - my subject matter too - my bad.

The rifle will only be built on a custom order as I was told, will not be a stock item.
If you want an AR modified to be the "BEST", send to Martin List in Oklahoma.
He is the expert for AR-50's !!!!

Anyone interested in buying 500 rounds of loaded 50BMG re-man from Talon?
I have a surplus of it. 500 rounds for $1350.00 face-to-face cash-only.
Will offer a buy-back on the brass after fired - but not if fired out of a MaDuece.

Thanks OldmanFCSA, I started out wanting a Barrett just for fun, nothing serious. But knowing myself, in the end the -lack of- accuracy would bother me. Shifted towards a BA50 because of the magazine but I'm not so sure I would like the left-handed bold. Read several posts stating the AR50 would outperform it so that's in short where I'm at.
Now I'm trying to make up my mind between the plain and the NM AR50. All I found was something about FL sizing and a tighter fit in the NM chamber.
Gotta find out how long it takes them to build one.

Do you reload? I have extra equipment if you want to get into it.

That's the way to get the best accuracy out of any rifle.

My AR-50 is very accurate and its the old style, there's been 3 variations since mine, all within the same model.
Newer AR-50's have better bolt release, shorter throat in chamber. better muzzle break, finish, etc.

And the AR-50's have the least felt recoil of any stock manufactured 50BMG rifle.

If you have a place to shoot, you may shoot mine, for trial, 5 shots free. More if you want at ammo cost.

Buy a stock one of newer design, shoot it for 100+ rounds for fun, cut barrel , move back 3/4 inch , re-chamber with 0.554 reamer, now you have a NM rifle.

I have had a .50 for several months now. I have all the support stuff and do reload for it. I have been shooting it at my private 1000 yard airstrip at my lake home as well as the two, 200 yard ranges close to my house. I am always looking for some one who wants go shooting. Its a AR 50 with a Mark 4 on it. If you are a member of the FCSA there is a thread called I am new to the 50 with picture's of my endeavors. I am a member of the Faribault rifle and gun club also so I have access to 600 yards.

.50 BMG has been the most fun I think I have had in guns to date. I have a place to shoot it at my cabin I will next week at 950 yards, but it is still fun to shoot at just 2-3 hundred yards also. It is a gun that just a session of maybe 5 rounds is satisfying. I am going to try to compete next year and see how it goes why not. If you want to do something that is really different, big and really fills the bill of king of the hill this is it. In the second to last picture the black dot down range you see is not the target that is a 4 wheeler coming back to report to me, the target is all the way down to the end in the corner and you can barely see it and that is only 700 yards.
