This = not overkill.

Just sayin'

Granted we can't do this because we have kids, but someday they will be out of the house, and I'd be I don't get too much resistance to the idea....

We've got a cabinet right above the toilet that holds my pistol while I shower. Out of reach of the kiddies, not that they'd come in the bathroom while I'm in there anyway.

Looks like it'd be a pita to get the gun out

Nahh, just stick your finger through the plastic and pull the trigger. Let me know how well that one works for you then too.

Seriously, in the bathroom, aren't you worried about moisture/steam? Or am I over-paranoid about getting the guns wet? I know we hunt with them and such in very wet conditions, but water vapor has a way of finding itself in the tiniest nooks and crannies that no one can have any hope of clearing out.
(noted that gun in picture was a Glock, but some of us do shoot all metal guns, and Glocks still have a little metal in them.) I can understand the fear of being in the bathroom with no backup (the dog scared me shizless this morning, suddenly growling and barking for no apparent reason, and she's not one to be vocal).

The purpose of a firearm in a defensive situation is to make the other guy leak from holes he was not born with. Your job is to install those orifices for him.

I have a stainless snubbie that works just fine for a bathroom gun

Pfft... Glocks can just sit on the soap dish. You don't need any fancy plastic to protect them.

Stainless.

We have a shelf in the bathroom between the sink and shower where my 1911 lives while I'm in there.

Are some of you guys talking about leaving a gun in there?!? My carry gun is in there for the duration of my shower and then back on my hip. It has to see more moisture through the day, particularly a July day, than from a 5 minute shower while sitting on a nearby shelf...

Well DUH!!! :lol:

I have a picture in the bathroom big enough to cover one of these....

But at that point I would still want a polymer gun, and I would still want it sealed up.
