Not really. The Glock action (as I understand it) is not truly defined as SA or DA. The trigger doesn't completely reset the striker/action (as it would with a DA type action) since the cycling of the slide partially resets the striker, but it does partially reset the striker when engaged, setting it completely before allowing it to come forward and strike the primer (whereas with a SA action the striker/hammer/whatever would be FULLY set after the action cycled, and the trigger's only function would be to release it).

So you're both wrong. :P

Probably. :?

Or I am.

Either way.

That is my understanding as well. Glock calls is SA for (safe action). So technically it is a 1.2 action then? Just a bit more than single?

They might be freaked out by a 1911 cockes and locked. Plus, its an excuse for me to get some gun leather that I hadn't considered until recently

All the more reason for them to educate the customer. Police departments are not gun experts, Bills is. Let's say Bills said, "if you are going to carry in my store, we are going to go onto the range and you, employee are going to show me you can safely handle your side arm", fine, I can support that, but this policy just makes no sense and perpetuates myths and fears of the non-gun public.

Once again, not directing this at you, If you want to carry a revolver, that is great. Just suprised at Bill's policy.

close, they DO require us to do proficiency shooting. they haven't done it for me yet, and i don't know when, but either way, it's the policy of my employer

I do not and will not support them or their policy as long as they continue to ban 1911's.

The real oddball thing is the idea that hammer down loaded chamber 1911 would be kosher, that mode of carry circumvents every safety mechanism built into the gun.

Rukwikenuf, you need to go full metal SA/DA like a witness or a CZ. ;) Revolvers are for oldtimers. :o

Back to the ACTUAL topic, I would say talk to Vlad or Srig or whoever makes holsters here, and get a custom one that is exactly how you want it. If you want leather, why dick around?

snowgun, thanks for actually being ON topic. i'd like a new weapon, but i can't really afford it (even at a discounted price). plus, like i said, this is an excuse for more gunleather. i've PM'd Srigs and i'm waiting for a reply, i'll try vlad. the other option, i've made some leather stuff in the past that came out OK, and i wouldn't be opposed to trying my hand at whipping up a holster. if it doens't work, i'm not out a ton, just some time. oh, and my time is all but worthless, so it works out

I'm pretty sure you aren't subject to their employee policies unless you actually work there.

But if it makes you feel better......... :?

hell, i stopped in with Anokaman yesterday AND today (and i work Friday, Saturday and Sunday) carrying my 1911. i'm not on the clock, not wearing a uniform, what's the problem? but when i AM on the clock, i wont. Max (down on the range) has worn his new Springer TRP a couple times, hammer down on an empty chamber. i could probably do that, but as i said, feels blasphemous

I would rather Israeli carry, since I believe I have a better chance of getting it hot in a stressful situation by racking the slide than by dicking around with the hammer.
