Dec 13, 2011 PUBLIC POLICY POLLING

.....what was a 9 point lead for Newt Gingrich now all the way down to a single point. Gingrich is at 22% to 21% for Paul with Mitt Romney at 16%.....

....Gingrich has dropped 5 points in the last week and he's also seen a significant decline in his favorability numbers.....

.......Paul meanwhile has seen a big increase in his popularity from +14 (52/38) to +30 (61/31).......

I've been a supporter for a long time. He isn't perfect, but he's really, REALLY close IMO.

The truth is that the Republicans, for all their complaining about "Obama", actually do not have any candidate that will be acceptable to the party and the public. And the Dems know that. So, the Dems just have to keep their heads down to win the predidency for another 4 years.

I think the ONLY candidate that can pull Obama votes is Paul. But Paul cannot accept the party platform, and the party, with it's wealthy contributors, will not accept Paul's version of a platform. It's not realistic to think the government will get out of the energy, and education business, not regulate the banks and sell the parks and public lands to the Depeartment of the Interior can be abolished. The people now in power benefit from having these things run for their own benefit.

Obama now has no incentive to "change" ANYTHING, he's kind of in the driver's seat if he says and does NOTHING.

I assume the Republicans will lose seats in the House, simply because they have more seats to lose to disatisfied voters. But evrything will remain gridlocked at least until 2014.

Glad to see it, I've argued with my left leaning friends that Paul is the greatest threat to Obama of all the GOP candidates, his campaign just needs to hang on until people realize the rest of the pack has little or no credibility and little chance of drawing the independent voters. None of the GOP candidates is perfect, Paul is about as close as you're going to get and I'm glad to see people moving away from the usual suspects and at least giving him a serious look.

It's a sad day when the biggest disqualifier I hear cited for Ron Paul has been that he "doesn't look presidential." How's good presidential looks (dubious) and charm done for us the last 3 or so years? Does anyone actually care about issues or are we now living in a purgatory of voting dip....s that give the same thought and criteria to picking a president as they do the next American Idol winner (how does he look/sound?) My poor kids...

All depends on where you get your info

http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/12/14/us-usa-campaign-poll-idUSTRE7BD0AI20111214

"(Reuters) - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has taken a commanding lead in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, hitting the 40 percent mark for the first time in the campaign, according to an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll released on Tuesday."

I'm a Ron Fan! :D
I just saw on FOX a couple hours ago that Trump is seriously considering running on the Independent ticket. If he does, I'll be so mad, that I'll, I'll, I'll SCREAM!!!! :angryvillagers:
This would have a Ross Perot effect, And if Trump really believes this country needs Obama gone, Then he's a p0ck1hg idiot if he runs on the independent ticket

Ron Paul Naysayers. Put this in your chamber and fire it!

The GOP must not even want the presidency. They certainly didn't seem to want it last time around. And just look at the current nominees, they're all patsys (save but one)! Ron Paul is the only candidate who could generate the enthusiasm needed to win the election and the establishment looks hellbent on denying him the GOP nomination. They do not want the presidency!

Make no mistake. It is no longer Republican vs Democrat. It is now progressive vs conservative, big government vs small government.
Romney, Newt, probably Trump, and most likely Bachman to a degree are all big government people. No different from Obama in practice if not principle.
Ron Paul is the only one really serious about reducing the size and scope of the federal government. Even if he can't get everything he wants done, at least he's looking in the right direction.

After tonights debate, RP just finished digging his hole. His foreign policy is joke at best. the majority of Americans want a strong military defense. It sounds to me like he was reading from Obamas book......Only difference was RP was acting like a larger chicken #%^&

I loved RP up until they asked about foreign policy.

You are wrong about what most americans think. our info tells us otherwise, and with no official polls released in MN YET....you will be suprised when they come out....I think Bachmann put the last nail in her coffin tonight.

I don't know what most Americans think either. But do you think he will survive the charges of racism? That's a touchy subject with lots of people. http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/211823/ ... blican.htm

Now, somebody help me out. I lost track. Who's up next, Huntsman or Santorum?
