SPA AK in cabelas ad?

Postby sininja on Sun Jan 15, 2012 1:57 pm

I've been casually browsing AK's for a while, the cabelas ad for Jan 19-29 has a SPA AK 7.62x39 listed with a synthetic stock and scope rail for $379.99... I can't find any information on it, can anyone steer me into the right direction on finding out more about this? Seems like a good deal, but I'm still learning :D If it's decent I think I'll pick one up.

Does anyone know who makes it? There isn't a manufacturer listed in the ad

I think the name got butchered by the original poster. I believe Cabelas sells them as "ZA SPAP 7.62x39" It's a P.O.S. and you're better off getting a real AK.

"So I'm gonna try to convert, convert it to a double stack mag , which seems pretty simple. Cause um, if you look in here you can see....it would be pretty easy to cut out with a dremel, and then just mill out the sides right here to fit the double stack mags, and then inside you can see the rivets.......(later on) it's pretty smooth (sounds of metal clattering like it's being dragged on concrete)" :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

I posted it exactly how it's listed in cabelas ad, probably why nothing comes up when I search for info on it.

The Zastava PAP is pretty decent if you want to just keep it stock and don't mind the low-cap magazines. They're heavy though.

They have excellent build quality, if you are happy with it in its current configuartion. The reciever is different enough, that conversion to standard AK parts isn't really practical.

If you're okay with the build it has then go for it, but if you're looking for a traditional AK style and parts compatibility, probably wouldn't be a bad idea stepping up a bit more for a WASR 10/63.

Just make sure to inspect the hell out of it before buying. Some good, some not.

The tantal or one of the other AK74 variants wouldn't be too bad an option either. Cheap ammo, and supposed to be a tad more accurate. Finding magazines isn't quite as easy though.

Arsenals. Mmm. Them is purty.

If you're looking for a cheap AK.
Fleet Farm has Tantals for $389.99. AK74 with side folding wire stock. 2 mags.
Ammo is dirt cheap if you by the surplus spam cans. 1080 rounds for $139-$149.
Mags from J&G for $12.99 if you order 10 or more.

P.O.S.?? I own one and it's one of my favorite rifles to shoot. I looked at all the local sores for an AK and this felt like the best build quality of all of them. I've shot hundreds of rounds without one malfunction. It has a smooth trigger as well. Perfect zombie killer.....

Well I'm glad you're happy with it. I still think it's a P.O.S.... Maybe if it was selling for $100 I'd change my mind, otherwise there are plenty of standard AK's to pick from.
