talk about 1911 buyers remorse! SIG has a new one...

Postby rukwikenuf on Thu Jan 19, 2012 11:57 pm

looks to me like it's my Tac Ops, but with bare stainless (possibly polished?) for controls AND A ROUNDED DAMN HEEL! they're calling it the 1911 Fastback Nightmare, and it's EXACTLY what i want mine to look like! i mean, they even used a rounder mainspring than the Ed Brown ones everyone but Kimber uses. i wanted to find a rounded msh like the Kimber ones and hack mine up, but they wouldn't sell me just the MSH. i guess i can see if SIG would sell me a MSH, or maybe even round my grip off, but i think the second option is gonna be spendy $$$

it really does look nice, if you purists can see past the squared slide (which has grown on me, i like it) and the external extractor, it's a sweet pistol! all stainless construction, lacking a rail thankfully, nothing too fancy, but they rounded the butt off! now i get to pester the wifey and try to get it

the only thing i'm not totally in love with is the bare stainless extractor, i think it's a little distracting. i wonder if Kimber's grips would fit? if so, Crimson Trace anybody?

They're quoting MSRP of $1,242, not all that bad for a Sig, or really many guns with that much stainless and the fancier bobbed end (Ed Brown, Dane Wesson must be who they're challenging with this one, and this is a steal compared to those prices!), speaking of the "bobbing", I do like the more rounded look there than the "angled look on the Brown's, Wesson's. Question is will they be as good as the Brown's/Wesson's? Everyone here donate to me to buy one of each and I'll give a thorough unbiased report on it. of course I get to keep the one I like the most

mod up the one you got - just buy a wilson stainless safety and slide release and bead blast it. when you shoot it you can just chant in your head "i liek round butts and i cannot lie... you other brotha's can't deny...."

also - Throwdown's cover of "Baby got Back" is the greatest cover in the history of music. i said it, i stand by it.

unless Ice-T has released a version of Slayers "Raining Blood" i'm not aware of... :P

ture, Throwdown is great, but thats a bit OT. i WANT to round the butt of my gun, it just irks me that SIG is now offering this, but didnt have it 9 months ago when i got mine!
and the controls on mine are all SS too. i dont really want to blast them (though a spin in the glass bead cabinet would look awesome) because i like the nice wearing that i'm getting. i'll try to snasp some good pics after work

I've been thinking about getting one.
Reviews that I read on accuracy say that it's a typical Sig, which means spot on.

YMMV, but I've had a bobtail ... I very much prefer this "treatment".

I miss owning a 1911. I'm gonna have to save up money and buy another one.

Two problems, it s Sig and it has one of those ugly external extractors. For that price I'll take a TRP springfield.

wow, that's one of the most ignorant things i've heard on this board! i'd bet that if you were to shoot one, you'd LOVE it. i've got 2,500 or so through my SIG Tac Ops 1911 (with the external extractor and the squared slide) and i haven't had a SINGLE hic-up. not one FTF, FTE or stovepipe. after putting 200 down it at my first steel shoot, it was getting a little gritty (before i gave it a quick wipedown) but it still functioned perfect.

true, it doesn't follow JMB's design perfectly. neither does that TRP you so love. the purists hate the EE and slide, but they have forward serrations on their slides, they have oversized magwells, front strap checkering, NIGHT SIGHTS, an effin LIGHT RAIL and a long trigger with holes in it. let's not forget the extended beavertail and bobbed hammer, 4.25"-4"-3.25"-3" or even SIX inch barrels. 38 super, 45 super, 460 rowland, 9mm, 40s&w, 10mm, 50gi and even .357mag!

JMB didn't do any of the above. so what if the extractor is on the outside! it WORKS. who cares if the slide is squared off, it's a SIG, they had to add something to it that nobody else did.

i'm done with this rant, and i'm going to work. i'll make sure to sell as many SIGs as i possibly can
