Handgun or long gun?

Postby Rodentman on Thu Jan 26, 2012 11:42 am

Guess it's still a handgun, not a long gun, but it's close.

Still learning about money. I got the barrel lightly used so maybe I am learning something. It's hard to drive with this in the holster.

Range trip with this and the 500 on Saturday.

Couple more inches longer and you'd be applying for the short barrel rifle tax stamp! :D

Going to range with that and the Smith 500 on Saturday, 10 AM. If you want to fire either one, you can meet me there.

I'll be the overweight cripple wearing the DE.

Actually, there's a long time breakfast regular who owns a DE 44 mag with a 14 INCH barrel, so you ain't the Johnny Wadd of Gopher breakfasts yet! And yes, it pretty much hangs all the way down to his knee when it's holstered...

Back in the late 1980s (before my time) I heard some tactical teams actually authorized the DE in .357. At that time many teams were issued .357 revolvers, so it kind of made sense. I am not sure how many officers actually carried them.

Between wondernines like the Beretta, S&W and Glocks, I don't think the trend lasted long.

I actually carried my friend's .44 DE for two weeks on a bet. Fortunately, it was winter so concealment was easier. I also shot the Police Pistol Course with it and got a pretty respectable score.

Hindsight being 20/20 I would not choose one for my daily carry, but they are pretty neat.

The best part of being human is that we can learn from SOMEONE ELSE'S mistake. Thanks, Erik!

Then toss the holster. The thing looks long enough for a two point sling.

Nice find! Since Kahr took over MRI those 10 inchers are hard to get.

The 6" conceals well in the winter.

This is a Ross Leather holster and I got it from holsters4guns.com.
