Shooting competitions going to suck?

Postby plink on Tue Jan 31, 2012 4:01 pm

I know they'd just create a special class for these, but still, takes some sportsmanship out of it, like traction control in a motorcycle race.

Wow, you could totally launch that from a 12 gauge and steer it with a regular laser sight. I imagine a box of them would be a little spendy, though... at least until we figure out how to make them at home.

[Edit after a little thought:] Well OK, you might need something with a little more oomph than your Crimson Trace to designate targets a mile out. But some of you guys could whip something up, I bet.

Not if your steel is a mile away!

I can't hit steel that's 20' away.

It's a little known fact that Benny uses special steel at the steel shoots. Not only is this metal maleable but it's downright sneaky and ninja like. It can dodge without even looking like it moved. Sometimes this mystery metal even displays its sense of humor when your opponent's steel will just spontaneously fall down just to mess with you :-)

You've got it all wrong, mallcop. He switched from ninja steel to shape shifting steel. It senses where the bullet is going to hit, and opens a hole just large enough for the bullet to pass through without touching the steel. It's completely imperceptible to the human eye. As sinister as the ninja steel was, this new stuff is worse. It's pure evil.

Special Terminator steel, eh? That would explain why some of the Spray and Pray I see doesn't work either. I would think even Ninjas couldn't dodge all that but the open hole bullet avoidance method does sound incredibly plausible.

It's either that or blame the shooter and we can't have that now can we?

That'd be like blaming the hunter or fisher. And I assure you the deer where I hunt and the fish in the lake I go to are all from the same planet that those plates came from.

I haven't, but I think I already see. Have the same expectations as when I go hunting/fishing. Minimal.

At least the paper isn't that sophisticated. It just moves around, usually shifting up and right JUST before the shot breaks. Don't get me started on the clearly negligent job most target setters do and the CLEARLY faulty equipment at matches. How else do you explain the FACT that they staple those targets so they have enough play to move up and right between my shots. Combined with the poor stability and setup of the targets, it's easy to understand my consistent A C hits.

It's not the shooter, It's obviously the targets

Did you know that the real name of the guy on those B-29 targets is Bob N. Weaver? ;)
