Training pistol for class

Postby Rem700 on Tue Apr 08, 2008 7:24 am

Considering a class that requires a inert pistol for force on force training. What do you consider the better choice and why. Thanks

Training barrel for your regular carry.

Blue gun.

Air soft.

Blue Gun, that is what it is meant for. ASP makes a red gun, but I don't like it as much as the Blue, the Blue is recognized as a training aid. An inert gun, if a real gun but disabled is a good training aid but I have a problem pointing it at someone during a training exercise. Even if you put one of those bright colored safety barrels in it, it is still a real firearm. Air Soft would work, I would paint it to make it easily identifiable as an inert firearm.

I have both a red gun from ASP and a blue gun, in 1911 of course to fit my holsters and prefer the blue.

Almost all dummy munitions and training aids in the Army are blue or have at least a thick blue band.

I would go with the training barrel. It is a safe way for you to get used to pointing real firearms at people. It mentally prepares you in case you ever have to do it in real life.

The barrel in my 1911 is my training barrel, I suggest that rather than using blue guns that we use blue men............

In addition to the 'Blue' guns, Law Enforcement Targets sells a 'Red' dry fire gun for a couple of bucks less. It gives you a trigger that goes click and it's weighted to simulate a 1911. But it doesn't fit into a 1911 holster.

Here is where I get mine most of the time. Good prices and good service. Check in the Training Gear section for Blue, Red and Blackhawk (new brand).

But Blackhawk doesn't offer any 1911 replicas, what kind of deal is that???? :x

You can buy the Blue guns locally at LETargets, so you could check them out before you buy.

None of the rubber ducks (training M16's) we had were blue, or marked blue.

I have a blue gun Beretta and a knife. It's what I will continue to add and train with.

I'd make some high quality play-doh training aids, that way nobody gets hurt/bruised and if you really feel like it afterwards you can eat them.
