1911 appreciation day is going to be April 7th at Isanti County Sportsman’s Club (ICSClub.org). Festivities on the range to go from 930 to 430. Plan on grilling some meat and perhaps sharing a beverage of your choice during the day and after the shooting. It will be a dry range. One adult beverage and your shooting for the day is done. We will have access to the clubhouse which is heated and had tables and chairs and kitchen faculties. Much like the steel shoots, if you are not a member of the club there will be a 5 dollar visitor fee. This is free event for club members. The plan is roughed out right now to include standard range activities such as a pin table and dueling trees as well as standard target shooting. Several members have offered to hold seminars on the care and feeding of 1911s. I would like to those that offered to please re confirm their intentions of what they want to do. Off the top of my head and thinking about what has been asked about is how to do is a field strip and clean as well as a detail strip, replacing parts such as safeties, triggers and sights. I am open to any other thoughts so list your wishes. I think it would be fun is someone wanted to demonstrate how to correctly do clearance drills on the range with attention to hand placement and not muzzling yourself or others on the range.
There were also thoughts about some friendly shooting games with prizes/awards. If you do not have a 1911, do not worry, there will be several there for you to handle and shoot if you so desire.
This is going to be cross posted on mngunsite as well as mnguntalk. I need a rough head count so please answer the survey on one of the forums and not both to eliminate doubling of the head count.
I am looking forward to seeing you all there.
Tom
