New recruit from Maple Grove

Postby Trova on Sun Jan 15, 2012 5:20 am

Hey guys, funny thing is, I've actually lurked around this board ALOT and it finally dawned to me that I should join the community!
That being said, my name is Alex, I'm 20 and I'm a current student of Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice. I've always been an avid gun enthusiast since I was a kid. Unfortunately, due to past issues with guns (Family moved here from Vietnam during the war), they aren't too popular around the house. So without a father to guide me around, I've always been on my own about these things. I have 2 close friends that are also gun enthusiasts, one being in the military and the other, a former LE student. I guess this new generation that plays video games and Call of Duty have created a bad image for us youngsters. Whenever I go to the shooting range or want to look at some firearms, I keep getting shady looks or the owners seem to think i'm extremely incompetent. On the flip side, for us youngsters, we happen to find ourselves on the opposite spectrum. We preach about gun safety; no muzzling, no pointing at people, trigger discipline, safety safety safety, the whole nine yards.

I bought my first rifle, a Remington 700 just during the summer and that's what finally kicked it all off. No more browsing forums and reading constantly about them, I finally had my own. Then I bought a Mosin Nagant, then I had a fun battle with the local police department about obtaining a permit to purchase. 1 month later after filling out the application, I bought my AK47. And just last week, I purchased an SKS. Boy oh boy what have I done! As you can probably tell, I love those Russian guns, I love the soviet engineering that goes into them that makes them well, work!

Well now that you pretty much know my life story, time to pass out!
I look forward to getting to know you gentlemen. :P
