"Begane" - World's Safest Weapon...

Postby jgalt on Sun Jul 11, 2010 12:04 pm

...or so the marketing video claims.

Of course, it also says that it is:

The most civilized alternative weapon the world has ever seen.

as well as calling it:

A civilized weapon, for civilized countries.

This is just awesome in its sillyness, come on, shooting backwards?:

However, despite the ridiculous video and the "non-lethal" or "civilized" design criteria, this is an interesting engineering specimen.

It's easy to bag on, but I like the fact that it incorporates pepper and stun capabilities. Not sure if this is good or bad... I also like the fact that the guy tried to make a projectile weapon and went out of the box. Yea, this one is a POS, but it gets you thinking..

If you could design a gun, and not be constrained to use the same old platform ideas that everyone else does, what would you come up with? Could you force yourself to think of a design that doesn't rely on what has already been done for 150+ years? That's how innovation happens. A great example is caseless ammo.

What a great country. A convict can make a zip gun in prison, do his time, and when he gets out he makes a better quality zip gun. That, my friends, is free enterprise and the American Dream. Sell what you know how to do.

Most of us don't need a zip gun, but if you ever do it looks like this is the one to have.

EDITED - here's what a normal zip gun looks like:

I fail to see how that's the safest weapon out there, cause anyone using it is likely to get shot with a real gun. ;)
