I promise that mine will look sufficiently evil. I'll post pictures in about a year when I have finally accumulated all the parts

edit: it might even shoot a round named after a monster!

Assuming you're talking about 6.5, have you considered the 6.8SPC? Even though it's slightly lower power, there is a lot more support for it available in both ammunition and actual parts. Another thing to consider is that if you would ever use your AR for HD, either cartridge is going to have a lot more over-penetration issues than 5.56, which is a great HD round.

I would probably actually go with 6.8SPC as it is way more financially viable but way less exciting :( 6.5 Grendel is crazy expensive even to reload; Brass is about $70 per 100

I'm not a big fan of these variants unless you have a 5.56 because of the ammo issue. They will be much more expensive to shoot and to buy. That and your hoping that in 5 years ammo doesn't disappear. 6.8spc is based off of an obsolete cartridge, when its gone its gone.

I do have a .300 whisper which I like, I can form brass from .221, .204, .223, .222, .222 mag, etc. It is more of a pain to get running, especially if you want to shoot subs.

I haven't really decided what I want. I'm just going to start buying parts here and there and have it done in 6 months or maybe a year... I don't know.

I will put off the barrel, bolt, and magazine until the end as those are the only parts that are different.
