EP Gander MTN Used Guns

Postby Sigfan220 on Wed Feb 22, 2012 8:45 pm

I don't usualy shop at Gander but had a couple gift cards. I figured I'd check the used guns and see what they had. Two stood out. A $1000 USED 10-22 and a $800+ S&W M&P 40. The 10-22 had and aftermarket stock, bull barrel and an OK scope but come on, $1000!! I mean seriously who the hell prices this crap. The M&P looked like a bone stock(Not PRO or two tone or anything) model with the factory 3 dot sights. The tag stated it came with a holster. It's a $550 gun with a used holster??? Even if it was a PRO model with extra mags and a holster it wouldn't worth near that much. I know there are a million threads about how crappy Gander is but this totaly blew me away. This probably explains why only a half dozen cars were in the lot...

I bought a used gun there, for a good price... a few years ago.

Don't look at the $1000 as just the price of the gun, you're actually buying an exhilarating customer experience. That 10-22 will come with a free gun cleaning, and some really good coupons too, so make sure you factor that into the cost. When it comes down to it, Gander Mountain is probably selling that gun at a loss. ;)

Every used firearm I've ever bought has been dirty when I got it, and every used gun I've ever sold has been squeaky clean when I solid it.

Yeah there must be some suckers. A guy at the counter was buying an AR and he asked how many rounds the mag holds. Maybe I have been around guns too long but that cracked me up.

I bought a Sig 522 rifle christmas of 2010. I never go to GM but I saw the "combo" package meaning it cam with a bull barrell and the tactical barrell and two mags. I buddy had just bought one at a gun show for $369.00 NIB and when I saw the combo for $359.00 I jumped.... must have been mis-priced? who cares... but came next was the " i m buying this beacuse of the bull barrell and the Gun smith needs to put it on for FREE..... they argued .. so called the General Manager and was prepared to walk.... they changed the barrell for free... 5000 rds later it's working great....

Even in gettign a deal...... I still hated the customer experience..... prices suck, service is poor, and the attitude would improve if it became just apathetic....

I was there Monday and saw the same guns. Funny. There is a super cool .38 super commander for $1600 with a ton of nicely done custom work. Probably worth every penny and more. If it was a 5" gun, it would be mine. I have snagged about 4 screaming stupid deals from there in last two years. Like all used gun stores, you gotta cruise in every week to see what shows up.

:iagree: Yeah that.

Seems people really like to bash Gander.
Gander buys used guns, Gander sells used guns.

Consider this...
People who are scared of guns may feel more comfortable walking in to Gander Mtn than a gun shop.
So if Faith Lovechild inherits daddy's big scary gun, where will she go sell it? Probably not Gunstop, or Metro Pawn and Gun. She'll stop by Gander Mountain. She might just drop off a Benelli M2 and say "Can you give me a hundred bucks for this? I need to buy a new yoga mat."

And Gouger Mountain will sell it for MSRP or higher... what's your point again?

If I'm going to mine for gold I'll go somewhere that's known to have gold deposits, digging up my backyard hoping to strike it rich is just stupid.
