Yes I inherited a scary yoga mat that can also be used for pilates.

I don't think anyone is arguing that you can't find okay or good deals on firearms at Gander Mountain, just that those deals are very far and few between.

Of all the places you can buy firearms at in the greater metro area; I would rank Gander as being one of the least likely stores for you to find a good deal at. A number of people seem to agree with me on this.

If you're finding all sorts of good deals at Gander feel free to post about them. I'm not above changing my opinion to save some money.... but I'm not going to patronize a store and waste my time trying to find a needle in a manure pit.

I saw a new cricket rifle at my local GM for $119. Bud's had the same rifle for $139 at the time, but I looked today and they are down to $111. Donno if that little guy is still there or not.

If you're talking about this cricket rifle, Buds sells them for $111 as well with free shipping to an FFL. Walmart and other stores often carry cricket rifles too...

Reeds has a Savage Model 64F for $129 list price, Marlin Model 795 for $149... Bemidji is way outside the metro area so Gander Mountain may not have any local competition. I'm not exactly impressed if you were presenting this as an example of a great deal Gander Mountain has going.

You don't think anyone was arguing that a few hours ago?
Here is an argument that you might recall.
gyrfalcon wrote:And Gouger Mountain will sell it for MSRP or higher... what's your point again?
If I'm going to mine for gold I'll go somewhere that's known to have gold deposits, digging up my backyard hoping to strike it rich is just stupid.

So, If you happen to run across a piece of gold in a place that is not known to have gold deposits, will you ignore it, and leave it behind? That would be dumb.

OK, I'll agree with that (amended for my 3rd grade English teacher) statement.
Gander Mountain is very proud of their guns.
However, A person can find good deals at Gander, sometimes.

I'm a great big guy, That little Crickett has been singing to me for years. The CZ scout is the only reason I don't own a crickett.
I'm sure I'll have one of each in time.

Yeah, I know other places carry them, and I also even said that bud's has em for $111 + $20 FFL transfer fee. Gander has plenty of competition up here. You already pointed out two, Reeds and Walmart. There are also a few gunshops scattered around Bemidji, which, in my opinion, are a lot better than either Walmart or Gander.

If you I were in the market for a cricket, you could save some cash. I was presenting this as an example of a deal, not that great of one, but you still would save roughly $10 bucks over buds. Which you asked to hear about...

I will always pay more for service and quality. But if they want you to bend over for "special cleaning coupon" and charge a lot more than other gun stores only to hook in naive new gun buyers then I will avoid it and tell others.

Fair enough, thanks for the "not that great" of a deal example! I'll stop at Gander first if I'm ever looking to buy a Crickett. Generally the only time I visit Gander is when I'm buying something at Mills Fleetfarm across the highway in Lakeville and need to waste some time because J&S isn't open.

Was at the gander mountain in Woodbury the other day and saw that they were selling Mosin 91/30's for ....... $179. I know that gander has always been high priced on alot of things but come on really..... That's just ridiculous. Just another post on why that place sucks.

i cruise around once in awhile looking for something I really need like a 4" Smith 500, but haven't checked Gouger lately. The long bbl one I got was used, and most likely such guns aren't used much. I surf Clarabela's Gun Library too. Don't seem to be many bargains there either, but I guess if you find something discontinued that you gotta have....I found a 98% Smith 28-2 P&R from 1976 there.

I stopped in GM to kill some time and was surprised to see them carrying two C&R handguns. A Polish Radom P-64 and a Yugo M57*. I can't remember the exact prices, but I do remember the P64 being cheaper than what I paid from AIM shipped, but only by a bit. Other than that, the rest of the prices were absurd.

*The Yugo might have been a different model, its been a few hours since I was there.

They're negotiable on used firearms so I would imagine they mark it up knowing whoever the buyer is will dick around with them and if they get some new 21 year old with a PTP and too much money in his pocket then it's a good day.

I just bought a Kimber Ultra Crimson Carry 2 for $200 under MSRP a couple weeks ago. I bought my LCP there at the average market price as well several months ago. In my experience GM has always been reasonable and if you go there to buy a used firearm put yourself in a "used auto" mindset.
