My "New to Me" toy/ First Handgun Purchase

Postby Lunchbox on Thu Mar 01, 2012 9:51 pm

I want to thank everyone who gave me their feedback when I first joined. Tonight I picked up a Sig P226 circa 1988. Tomorrow I'll Take it for the initial trip to the range. I would like to ask if there is anybody out there that would be willing to show me how to detail strip so I can get a better look at the condition of the individual pieces. I know there's youtube but would prefer somebody who knows what they're doing help guide me through it.

Very nice. Enjoy it.
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

yeah, it's a pretty nice gun. i think the only thing that bugs me is that it came with three mags, and one of 'em is MecGar. however, it's a nice gun. GOOD CHOSING, Lunchie

Like we got to talking... worst case scenario I sell it... granted it would be after I pick up a couple/few more factory ones.

Mecgar is quite likely the OEM for sig mags. Nice pistola.

Yeah, more often than not, I pick up Mecgar mags for my sigs as they are slightly cheaper, but same quality as they are the same magazines.

I just happen to have recently become acquainted with stripping a Sig due to the P228 I recently purchased being completely gunked up. I'm not available this weekend, but could probably help you out on the 10th or 11th if you can wait that long.

Took it out to Bill's South this morning and put a box through it. It performed beautifully. The only thing I'd change is to improve the nut behind the trigger. But that just takes work and to get it through to myself to quit fighting the cross-eyed dominance.

I've got too many issues with Glocks. Nothing really against the brand but the fit and function for me.
