How "thick" is your handgun?

I'm planning a project... kind of a secret hiding spot for handguns. So I'd like to know about how thick the thickest handgun that would be used for home defense is. I own exactly zero revolvers at the moment but I assume they would be thicker than my glocks and 1911. I know the Hi-Points resemble a brick also, so if someone has some time, if they could grab a tape measure and measure their thickest gun at the thickest part of it and what kind it is... I'd appreciate it.

I'll post the build and pics of the project when I get started on it.

Is there a a revolver in particular you are curious about. Some manufacturers websites have dimensions.

No.... trying to make this a "one size fits all" kind of a deal. Maybe even sell a few, but I also want it to be as small as possible. I could probably just go 2" and be safe but I want to keep it as thin as possible.

My Ruger LCR measures at 1.28" (1 9/32) across the cylinder. My Taurus Model 66 measures 1.496" (1 1/2) across the cylinder. Hope this helps.

If you want to cover all sizes, I would guess the S&W or Taurus revolvers that shoot .410 would be the thickest.

My S&W model 13 fits my bed frame mount with a bit of room to spare, don't know if a .410 revolver would though.

Smith 3953 is very slim, why I like it. Less than a .45 for sure.

if we're guessing on thickest revolver, i'd have to say Smith with the 500 or their 8 shot 357.

my Taurus 669 357 is approx 1.75" diameter on the cylinder. i'd whip out the calipers and get an EXACT measurement, but i left 'em at school

I agree, a 5 round snubby should be fine. Mine measures only 1.8 at the cylinder....
