Commie Shoot Part Deux..... (prospectively)

Postby Stradawhovious on Mon Mar 12, 2012 9:40 am

Lets assume that someone were to be in the process of organizing another COMMIE SHOOT sometime in the next couple months in the Oakdale/Lake Elmo area. Lets further assume that you were not busy the day it was scheduled...

How many folks would be interested in attending?

Keep in mind there would be a very modest entry fee to go to the hosting club. (not more than $15 per shooter)

Participation in the poll in no way locks you into coming to the shoot, we just need to get a tentative head count for secretarial reasons.

ETA this would be at an outdoor range, and be held rain or shine.

Would we be able to shoot steel core 7.62x54R at this event?

Yes, assuming you are talking about the regular surplus stuff. I went through a couple hundred rounds of it myself at this range just yesterday. :D

No tracers though, and nothing designated as "armor piercing" I'm pretty sure those are the only requirements. I will update if I find out otherwise.

as a fellow komrad in organizing this shinding, let's say that it would be pretty darn close to the first commie day, except with more people, more guns, more **** talkin and if my math works out with those operators, MORE FUN!!!

i know there were some people last time around who felt a little left out, which was unfortunate, but since we hosted the last one at a private club we were bound by the rules of member/guests etc and we did what we could. there were only so make invitation slots to go around. we're in the process of trying to set up something that can be open to the public which all depends on headcount and your ability to be a good little komrade while participating in the days events 8-)

let's see those hands - WHO WANTS TO HELP MAKE A MOUNTAIN OF COMMIE SURP BRASS*!!!!

*of course, by "brass" i mean, copper washed steel, laquer coated steel, steel, brass that splits down the side when you shoot it and brass which may or may not contain up to 7% newspaper filler if bulgarian or polish :P

Isn't it going to be way too warm for that?

These are ammo I got from Fleet Farm before I knew they couldn't be used at the indoor range. They are a steel bullet with just a little bit of lead in them. Pretty sure I didn't see anything about armor piercing on them. Sure would be nice to use some of it up.

There would be no problem with using that ammo. This day would be about having fun, not spending a lot of money. Grab your Mosin, grab a spam can of surplus crap, and shoot it 'till the handguards burst into flames. 8-)

I picked the last option because it made me smile, and perhaps i am a bit jealous that i have no commie guns.

Though given the bowing of the 7.62 x 39 shelf, i should probably correct this.

This in and of itself should not stop you from participating. Bring some ammo, and many folks will let you shoot what they brought. The point of this is to see some new and interesing weapons from history, and be able to send some lead (or steel in this cas) down range with them.

Last time everyone was extremely generous and trusting. It was a blast.

Literally. :D
