How Hello Kitty and the Swiss saved my day today...

Postby Shipyard on Sun Mar 11, 2012 5:29 pm

so, i planned to hit up oakdale today to meet a bunch of people and do a LOT of overdue shootin. the adventure didn't start out well beginning last night, i attempted to load up a bunch of 10mm for my new glock 20 and chrono some loads at the range. my workshop if under construction, i couldn't find ****, nothin seemed to work right and all told it took me 2 hrs to lead up 17 rounds before i threw in the towel and said **** it.

this morning i woke up, slept in, laid in bed for a while and said - oh well, i got a hour and a half before we leave. i'll make a nice big breakfast, coffee to take to the range, and i'll drill a hole in the tripod to custom fit my chrono to the stand. what could be better right? as soon as i finished that though, Stradwhovious - my ride - called and said "hey you ready to go?" at that point i was quickly reminded of daylight savings :x look's like it's ten min to get ready again..... dammit.....

get to oakdale, meet up with the homies. short range is under water still so off to the 25 yd. finally get my equipment out, my chono set up and put 7 rounds through the ten mil, when a dudes comes up and says "yeah, we got a class goin here, w're goin to need to kick you all off the range for the class." looks like Shippy forgot the check the calendar again. **** perfect :x

by the way, stradie just left with the car to hit the comp range. pack up all my gear and lug it all accross the club to the other range, chrono draggin behind me. this sux.

on the way i get a phone call - timwarner is around and he's goin to bring his daughter shootin. i say cool deal man, stop on by and say hi. been a while, so some friendly faces today are more the merrier :D

get to the comp range. get a little bit of trigger time. had an issue with one of my tokarevs so i spent more time dickin around with that than shootin. now it's time to go to the 100 yd. dammit, i'm done with handguns for the day it seems. ****.... :x

off to the 100 yd. the only gun i brought for the 100 was my swiss Vetterli recently acquired from Don T. i only have 12 loaded rounds of ammo. this sux... again :x why can't i seem to win today...

before i get a chance to shoot it, tim shows up with his daughter. cute little kid let me tell you. i asked her her name and we were introduced. before i could say much else, she holds up a picture and says "i colored this for you!" it's hello kitty, apparently, shopping for her favorite clothes. i'm no cat expert, but that's apparently what cartoon Japaneese cats do :P

Picture in hand, they take off to go shootin' and i'm left with a partially better day. i shot the 12 rounds i had for the vetterli and it's my new favorite gun. i cannot wait to load up a million rounds for this thing and spend an entire day in prior swiss black powder bliss. super super fun!!! proper range report forthcoming....

wrapped up the day shootin a round fo trap with Strad. had a 9 for 10 the last try so i left feelin good again. after all, that;s what 6 hours at the range is supposed to do.

also, thanks Tim and Don T for interjecting the two biggest bright spots in my day today.

jsut wanted to share. Shippy's now off to get really, really drunk tonight. after all, it's a Sunday Fun-Day!!! :D

Sounds like the day I drove 158 miles to show several guys a 50BMG rifle and to shoot it a little.

Everything went fine until time to fire rifle - I left the rifle bolt at home. @#$%^&* !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It isn't often that hello kitty and 164 year old rifles come together like that :P

It isn't often Hello Kitty is a good thing.

Come to think of it... I think this is the first time it can be considered a good thing.

Are you kidding? Hello Kitty solves MANY problems! She opens doors!

You just need some training in the application of Hello Kitty to the proper problem.
