I just bought the Ruger LC9 with Lasermax and have 50 flawless rounds thru it, 2 extra mags and a holster on backorder. I work with Jon Thompson at Riverside Sporting Gear, have 3 M&Ps and yesterday he tells me about this, for the first time, and says he'll have one in the shop on Monday. Have strong desire to kick him in the *** but that might effect our partnership negatively!

A number of them on sale on Gunbroker.

Wonder what S&W did to improve the reset and trigger pull. Wouldn't have taken much to fix that by tuning the sear, etc., but it sounds like they did more than just that (which is what I assume they always did to make their Pro series triggers better than their standard M&P guns' ones).

SW Schield: W = 0.950 OAL = 6.100 H = 4.6 Barrel = 3.100 Capacity = 7+1 (8+1 extended mag)

SW M&P 9c: W = 1.077 OAL = 6.750 H = 4.375 Barrel = 3.500 Capacity = 12 +1

Are there grip sleeves available to use standard M&P mags in the M&P 9c?
The Shield looks nice but a 33% ammo reduction for only a 1/8" narrower gain and the over height is taller. :?
Plus a thumb safety that might accidently get ingaged

Full size M&p magazines "fit" in the 9c but I think you can insert them too far and may jam against the slide as with a 1911. The floorplate of a 1911 magazine prevents it from being inserted too far and jamming against the slide. I had this happen inserting a full size 1911 magazine into a shorter officer's grip. It locks the slide so hard it was nearly impossible to operate the slide or drop the magazine. This happens only if you jam it into the gun. Inserted gently, they will work. If there is a different floorplate to adapt a full size M&P magazine to a compact 9c, it should work.

For me, an 1/8 inch in width is a lot when it comes to carrying comfort. Especially if carried IWB. The difference between 8 and 13 rounds is insignificant to me for self defense situations. If I need more than 8 I'll reload.

The carrying comfort of the 1/8 inch narrower gun means that I will carry it more places and often which for me greatly outweighs the 5 more rounds of the 9c. I'll still keep my 9c but will be looking at the Shield.
Because I care, I carry.
