Criteria For Selling A Gun

Postby sawgrass on Tue May 08, 2012 7:50 pm

What does it take for you to sell a gun?
Do you have guidelines for selling? I ask myself "how easily can I replace it".
Then I take it out of the safe, look at it and put it back. If I'm getting closer I go the the appropriate forum and then I put it back in the safe.
Right now I could use a few extra bucks and just can't seem to bring myself to list anything.

I've made it easy on myself. Standing rule is don't sell any guns :D

:D Evidently me too! Why is it so hard? It isn't a pet or a family member. (that might be easier as long as it isn't Wrench or the dog)

Shippy you have given me an idea! I could sell Wrench's gun and keep mine! (don't tell her)
I only have one Garand that I went to Alabama and picked out so it has to stay.

Yea. For all of the crabbin' that goes on and sneaking of guns in the house on most forums, we have the opposite problem.
We usually talk each other out of it if we have gotten so far as taking photos.

(Wrench has spidey sense and all kinds of sense just not enough dollars and cents) I wouldn't have this problem.

I've only sold one gun so far and I'm wishing I wouldn't have.

It sucks, hence the question (How easily can it be replaced?)
I'm convinced it's impossible to sell a gun and surf the internet without seller's remorse.

I had to sell several when my daughter was born so Mrs. C. could stay home with the small person. Sucked. It's actually kinda nice now that I am slowly getting the opportunity to replace some of them. I get to go a different route this time. For instance, I bought a Mini-14 instead of an AR. I now have experience with both that I would not have before. I don't think I'll ever stop kicking myslef for selling my 686+ though.

Yep, hit the S&W forum and look for a replacement.
That's huge to sell something so your wife can stay home with your daughter. I would have to call that money likely well spent.

It's simple. We never do. There's always a kid, a grandkid, a nephew, or a cousin who needs one.

That is a very cool family dynamic. Do you shoot together? The new "All American Family Sport" gonna replace bowling! :D

I well sell one, but it has to fall under two criteria:

1) It is typically unused
2) It is being sold to directly fund the purchase of another
