I think that's the first time I've seen penalties in triple digits.

I scored better hits than you with my shoot-throughs.

Alrighty.. I have too much time on my hands. I read all 28 pages of this thread.

I've never shot in any sort of a competition before, but it interests me, so here I am.

I during the week, I work until 6pm and could make it to BPR by 6:30-7:00pm from Bloomington (depending on route and traffic) for the 2012-2013 season; but my concern is about leaving my weapons and ammo in the car trunk and how they will be affected. I know excessive moisture, heat, cold, affects both weapons and ammo causing them to function differently, so what do I do about that? Heck, during the Summer/Winter I'd love to put weapons and ammo in the trunk, let them sit all day and then go to the range after work, but I'm uncertain about how the heat/cold will affect them. I don't think running all the way home and then out to the range would really be a viable option (in terms of time). That's why I mainly shoot on the weekends.

Suggestions?

Leaving them in the trunk a couple days a month will be no problem.

See you in Fall.

Why wait until Fall, there are many Summer leagues starting up at ranges all around. Several have already intoductions for new shooters to "Action Pistol" (I highly recommend attending one, some clubs require new shooters attend one or have training specific to holster / action work).

Thanks for the link and the tip... I guess my only reasoning for waiting until the Fall would be that BPR is closest to me, I have a membership there, and during the Summer I'm usually busy as heck.....but good point.. why not during the Summer time?

Now, just so I'm clear...so taking my guns to work (not IN work, but to work, leaving them in the trunk - with ammo) would NOT pose a problem on a 70-100 degree day for 9-10 hours?

The Burnsville matches start in October. We may get an occasional 70 degree day. I can't ever remember a 100 degree day in October. If you can pick them up to load them they will be fine. Temperatures affect the burn rates somewhat of powders, but that is minor. Ammo is designed to go through a lot.

Come to any match to watch and see if you are interested. It is free to watch at every match that I know of. Most anyone they will tell you how to get started.
