I finished the chamber. Going to do some touch up work on the bolt tomorrow. Depending on what time I get the cosmetic stuff done I MIGHT test fire it tomorrow. We shall see how it goes down. If I do it tomorrow it will be in Pine County

single shot, or will it feed from the magazine?

I don't have a 45-70 round handy to see if it even fits.

for the time being it is single shot. Thats all I need.

down the road I will modify the magazine. But that will take proper planning. Everything else was done on a whim.I have drawn up some plans to modify the magazine. But with us moving to the new house in 14 days I should probably put Olga down and start packing. The wife is getting irritated with my procrastination.

Well I thought I would tally up the money spent and provide my list.

Mosin Nagant 91/30 $89
45-70 barrel blank $85
Rail $7
New Reciever $20
Tool Rental $6
Paint $13

TOTAL $220.00

I decided to use a crappy TRU GREEN Red dot that has been in the closet for a long time. Pretty sure it will fall apart but it was free from my brother.

Today it finished up some of the little things. Deburred the bolt face. Filed some sharp edges. Tomorrow is the final touches.

I can officially say... IT IS FUNCTIONAL. That is all I will say about that. IT IS FUNCTIONAL.

That is a very nice Olga. But I better just stick with my Olga. The wife is well armed.

I will be putting the barrel back in the lathe tomorrow. Found a couple small issues that might cause problems down the road. So for safety sake... I will take corrective action NOW. I ended up reaming the chamber just a little too deep. So I will face the threaded end of the barrel to shorten the chamber. Will also have to face the shoulder going into the reciever as well. That should take about 5 minutes to set up the lathe, 5 minutes to machine, and 5 minutes to clean up. SO I figure about an hour to do the job. Gotta take a couple smoke breaks in there.
