The short story is that there is essentially no MN state limit on properly storing loaded ammunition in the home. Up to 20 pounds of smokeless powder and up to 10,000 primers are allowed. Powder and primers in loaded ammuntion are not included in those guidelines.
With that said, there may be a limit imposed by local fire ordinance, however. That varies by municipality. Check your local library for fire regulations to avoid alarming uninformed public servants/officials with such questions.
