Two thumbs up for cobb

Took cobbs class today. Very informative and he is an excellent instructor. I will definitely recommend him to anyone who wants to get their PTC.

Just wanted to say :thankyou: cobb for a very fun time, glad I took your class.

ETA: What kind of holster did you have for your Ed Brown and do you like it?

You mean this old thing? ;)

The holster is from TT GunLeather, called a DDOS with shark skin trim. The magazine is in a pocket mag pouch also made by TT GunLeather.

Here is the link to Tim Thurner's web site - http://www.ttgunleather.com/

And yes I like it so far, but I do not carry very often OWB. The one plus to this specific holster is that it rides higher than my other OWB holsters, so easily conceals under a standard vest. If IWB is the only option, I am a hard core Brommeland Max-Con V fan, they don't get any more comfortable than that for IWB holsters.

Cobb, why haven't I seen you with that Bobtailed Ed Brown before?

I thought new arrivals were required to be announced on this forum!

That is my dress up gun for special occasions, not my everyday carry, so not out and about like my Kimber CDP PRO, Colt Delta Elite, or RRA Commando. But I thought I should get the Kobra out more, so I wore it to the Sunday permit to carry class at Vantage Point Range, or also known as Drive A Tank.

On a side note, always verify that your carry ammo works in your carry gun. My usual carry ammo is 200 gr Speer Gold Dot in my .45 ACP's. But I found a deal on some Hornady 230 gr. TAP ammunition and thought I thought I would try something different, so I ordered some . The problem is that the Hornady 230 gr. TAP ammunition will not feed in my Ed Brown, it does not go into full battery and I don't care why, that is not the point. The point is that even though you carry a quality firearm with quality ammo, the pair may be incompatible and not function, so go to the range and verify the compatibility. So for me it is back to the old reliable Speer 200 gr. as my primary carry ammo.

Another side note, lost most of my Sunday permit class at one point, they were outside watching a tank crush a car, a mini van, or two cars, something like that...... 8-)

1) I totally agree. ALWAYS test your defense ammo to make sure it works.

2) I use the Hornady 230 gr. TAP +P for my defense ammo, so if anyone is working if it works in their Springfield XDm 45ACP, yes, it should, but please make sure that it does by testing it for yourself just to be certain it works with your particular gun.

You interested in some more? I know we can work a deal, especially if you have some .45 acp Speer Gold Dot or 9mm CorBon as trade fodder. :D

That is a beautiful holster. I'm considering getting a holster for my EB Kobra as it deserves to get out of the safe more often.

BTW , I will probably get the 2x handgun scope, will let you know in the next couple of days.

Did any students sign up to drive a tank after class?

KARE11 did a news story in April about how Drive-A-Tank drove through a house in Kasota (on purpose) - pretty funny. Wish I could've been there for that. Not to get too far off-topic, but they do have many of their vehicles at Ahlman's every year for teh Shooter's Roundup, too.

I took Cobb's course and was very happy with it. I also liked the range, and am trying to take the wife back there soon.
