Which one to go with Mn. PTC

Postby CraigJS on Fri Jul 13, 2012 7:12 pm

Tactical error, I let my Mn PTC lapse this spring.. Going back soon to get the PTC back. Question, which additional permit/permits should I also pick up?? Utah, Fla., Ariz. Looking for best "bang" for my bucks. I tried handgunlaw.com, but still unsure due to stipulations in which is good where ( res., non-res.etc.). Thanks!!

Depends on where you travel... For example, if you want to go to Florida, that's a requirement.

I've heard that people (along with their MN) get FL, UT, or AZ, but again, it depends where you travel. If money isn't an issue, collect 'em all!!

FLA and AZ are easy enough to get, about the most coverage possible.

MN resident w/ MN permit; AZ, FLA non-res permits:

Wish you could just pay like $500 for a lifetime permit that's valid in every state so long as... oh, I don't know... you don't do anything to screw it up for yourself.

Utah requires training for the initial permit, no training required to renew and the renewal fee is only $15.

Again, Florida if you plan to travel to Florida. Arizona is cheapest to get up front, but Utah the cheapest to renew.

What a person needs to do is decide what states they will be traveling to, then decide what permit. Origon, Nevada, Washington and Florida all come into play depending on which permit you have.

I wish there was a federal permit that one could get for all 50 states.

No, just one more thing for the Feds to screw up with their political bureaucracy.

Recognition of permits to carry just like different state's drivers license is what is needed.

Yeah, that would be better. I guess my point is I'd be nice to have a one-covers-all deal.

Permits should not be required at all.

I agree and disagree for different reasons.

Agree - 2nd amendment. If you can legally own a gun and live in Alaska, you can carry. No permit needed.
Disagree- There are some real wacked people out there and it adds a stop gap.

Texas is the same. We recognize theirs but they do not recognize ours. When my PA permit expires I'll be forced to explore a different option for Tx. PA requires a personal visit now.

When my PA expires I'm probably going to end up getting a FL, if I wasn't planning a trip to FL I would be getting an AZ.
