Nice surprise at Cabela's today!!!

Postby grousemaster on Fri Jul 20, 2012 6:44 pm

So I brought my daughter up to Cabela's to spend some of my built up club points and do some browsing, as well as show the little one all the mounts and fish.

I decided to browse the used pistols and came upon a flawless G23 rtf2 with all factory stuff in original case (reasonably rare pistol, especially in new condition), there's not a mark on it and it has the slick dark finish I like. No carbon build up in the frame and slide still has factory anti-seize, I don't think it's been fired much if at all. The deal was to good to pass up and I brought it home...I actually haggled the sales guy down $40 on the price to :D

You never know what you're gonna come across browsing used guns, I'm gonna make this my carry Glock and list my Gen 4.....I dig the "Gills"! MrVrooom and I may be the only forum members that think this is a cool find, but I'm pretty happy about it :D

Plus, my daughter got to experience a gun purchase at 6 months old, and she was very patient (Cabela's is slow)

edit: Considering there are zero marks at the top of the magazines (.40 cal Glock mags show signs of use almost immediately, although they last forever) I'm doubting this thing has even been fired, aside from the factory of course.

Nice find!
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

Are the gills required for shooting underwater? :?

Yea, this one was originally designed for Navy Seals.I have a buddy in the SEALS and he says there was at least two if not three RTF2 Glock's deployed on the raid that killed Bin Laden.

Yea those things command a hefty price. One in good condition can go for $650 on up....I've seen some go for ridiculous prices.

Nice find! I dig the gills but the rtf2 is too much for my soft, delicate hands.

After the purchase was decided and the 4473 was signed, they told me it would be 10-15 minutes and to go browse. There was no one else waiting or in line. It takes 2 minutes to call in a 4473.

When I came back after 10 minutes they said they were still working on it, and needed another set of eyes on it. Can't figure out what they could have been doing. I never get "further reviewed"

I had the same experience when I bought a Walther at Fleet Farm. They had some policy that demanded only specific people were allowed to call the NICS and that the paperwork had to reviewed by a manager before release. Both of those things added time because neither of the folks needed were readily available.
