Good safety tip Egon. :)

Fill the primer pockets with silicone sealer put a piece of dowel inside and seat a bullet, voila life long practice ammo.
Drill the side of the cases if you wish as an extra indicator of it being dummy ammo.

I like my snubnose .44 special. Charter Arms/Bulldog.
I was shooting bowling pins at 50 feet. Consistantly able to average 4 pins with 5 shots at least 200 times.

since I have my own range, I don't get to go out & play with others very often...

what can you tell me about those "steel shoots" ??? got any links, etc...

so if a newbie were going to play, what are good toys to play with ???

I have a 4" stainless GP-100 in 357...

a "junky old S&W" in 357 that I could pull her magisty out of the safe...

& a custom comped Dan Wesson snubbie in 44 mag, that is very easy to shoot

are there classes for rim fire ??? how many shots do you take during a course of fire ??? ( how many speedloaders do you need )

BTW... very nice 45... I've been wanting a new 610... but S&W seems to feel ( by both the price & availability ), that I don't really need one... ( I've been wanting one, to chamber in 10mm magnum, since I already have an auto & a Contender chambered for that round ) would the 10mm be a competive gun / cartridge to use, out of the 610 ???

It's hard to visit this site without seeing something about the steel shoots. Look in Events and at the MGT Calendar.

The wheel guns are just fine for this. In fact, they will be honored at the July event. Shoot 9x19/.38 or better (no rimfire) since you will need to knock stuff over on occasion.

I believe that you shoot 100 rounds if you don't miss. No offense, but bring 200 rounds.

The COF is usually 5 shots. However, when you are on the line you will shoot 4 strings. So, have 5-6 (I'm guessing here. Help me Pat Cannon!) reloads ready. One for each string plus a couple of reloads for missing shots.

Yep, 5 shots times 4 strings in each of 4 stages = 80 rounds, plus 4 shots times 4 duels for the Man v. Man = 96 rounds if you never miss, and if the falling targets always fall on the first hit. So, yeah, in the real world 200 rounds isn't a bad idea. Especially if you're one of those guys I see who seem to be used to shooting an Uzi. :)

Your reloads between stages are not on the clock, so a speedloader is not strictly necessary for that. People will be tapping their feet and grumbling if you spend too much time digging through your pockets, though. I own 4 speedloaders and I learned to load from loose rounds or speed strips at the start of the stage, so as to always keep at least one speedloader in reserve. In at least one match I ran out and had to reload loose rounds while the clock was running. Not a winning strategy!

So if you never miss, you actually don't need any speedloaders. Yes, there is a mandatory reload on the clock before shooting the final target in the Man v. Man, but if you never miss, you only need to load one round!
